摘要: Techniques are disclosed for matching a current background scene of an image received by a surveillance system with a gallery of scene presets that each represent a previously captured background scene. A quadtree decomposition analysis is used to improve the robustness of the matching operation when the scene lighting changes (including portions containing over-saturation/under-saturation) or a portion of the content changes. The current background scene is processed to generate a quadtree decomposition including a plurality of window portions. Each of the window portions is processed to generate a plurality of phase spectra. The phase spectra are then projected onto a corresponding plurality of scene preset image matrices of one or more scene preset. When a match between the current background scene and one of the scene presets is identified, the matched scene preset is updated. Otherwise a new scene preset is created based on the current background scene.

摘要: An optical isolation structure is incorporated into a display between the display elements and the transparent substrate for the display elements. The optical isolation structure reflects light rays within the substrate that impact the structure at high angles relative to normal to the structure, thereby permitting the substrate to be used as an integrated light guide for distributing light over the display from a light source on the edge of the substrate. The optical isolation structure may include a single layer having an index of refraction less than the substrate or a plurality of thin-film interference layers.

摘要: A long-term memory used to store and retrieve information learned while a video analysis system observes a stream of video frames is disclosed. The long-term memory provides a memory with a capacity that grows in size gracefully, as events are observed over time. Additionally, the long-term memory may encode events, represented by sub-graphs of a neural network. Further, rather than predefining a number of patterns recognized and manipulated by the long-term memory, embodiments of the invention provide a long-term memory where the size of a feature dimension (used to determine the similarity between different observed events) may grow dynamically as necessary, depending on the actual events observed in a sequence of video frames.

摘要: A display device including a plurality of optical modulators and a plurality of filter elements on a reflective side of the plurality of optical modulators is provided. The plurality of optical modulators includes a first set of optical modulators and a second set of optical modulators. Each optical modulator of the plurality of optical modulators is configured to be selectively switched among at least a first state, a second state, and a third state. Each state has a different spectral reflectance. The plurality of filter elements includes a first set of filter elements corresponding to the first set of optical modulators and a second set of filter elements corresponding to the second set of optical modulators. The first set of filter elements has a different spectral transmittance than the second set of filter elements.

摘要: A microelectromechanical (MEMS) device is presented which comprises a metallized semiconductor. The metallized semiconductor can be used for conductor applications because of its low resistivity, and for transistor applications because of its semiconductor properties. In addition, the metallized semiconductor can be tuned to have optical properties which allow it to be useful for optical MEMS devices.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a method of using function blocking tissue factor antibodies to enhance graft survival in mammals. Function blocking antibodies having the effect of blocking activated tissue factor (TF), TF and its ligand FVII as either the inactive TF:FVII or active TF:FVIIa complex, or block the formation of the TF:FVIIa:FX ternary complex are useful in the method. These properties provide a therapy that has directed action towards thrombotic events involving tissue-plasma interactions but does not prevent the intrinsic pathway for coagulation. Activated TF arises on cells, tissues, and organs during or after transplantation and is a major cause of graft loss.

摘要: A normally white (NW) twisted nematic liquid crystal display (LCD) outputs improved viewing characteristics which are defined by high contrast ratios and/or reduced inversion. The display includes a pair of negative tilted retarders (#2 and #6) located on one side of the liquid crystal layer (#10), each of the tilted retarders including a tilt or incline angle which varies throughout the thickness of the layer. Additionally, one or two negative uniaxial or biaxial retarders (#4 and #7) are provided on the same side of the liquid crystal layer as the tilted retarders. As a result of the particular orientations, alignments, and retardation values described in the different embodiments, the display exhibits improved contrast and reduced inversion.

摘要: A normally white twisted nematic liquid crystal display is provided for outputting improved viewing characteristics which are defined by high contrast ratios and reduced inversion. The display includes both positive and negative retardation films, the negative films being biaxial and defined by n.sub.x >n.sub.y >n.sub.z in certain embodiments where the "z" direction is substantially perpendicular to the film plane and the "x" and "y" directions are substantially parallel to the film plane. By providing the positive and biaxial negative retarders with specific retardation values and/or ratios, improved viewing characteristics are provided. According to other embodiments, a positive and a negative (uniaxial or biaxial) retarder may be provided on only one side of the liquid crystal layer.
