A pharyngeal airway tube, without inserting any foreign matters in the trachea (T), can be easily inserted through the oral cavity (O) in the lower pharynx (P), and is capable of hermetically sealing a transitional region from the lower pharynx to the esophagus (E) and the periphery of the laryngeal opening (AL) to secure an airway for positive pressure artificial ventilation. The pharyngeal airway comprises an airway tube (1) having a closed, round distal end and provided in its side wall with ventilating holes (2), and a balloon (3) attached to the edge of the ventilating part and around the ventilating part of the airway tube and capable of being inflated so as to surround a part of the airway tube near the distal end of the same. A small bore gas passage (4) is formed in the wall of the airway tube so as to open into the balloon, and a small bore tube (5) fitted with a connector (7) is connected to the proximal end of the gas passage.

An apparatus for controlling the idling speed of an engine is disclosed. An idling speed control valve disposed in an idle passage communicates with the intake passage downstream and upstream of the throttle valve to control the amount of the airflow supplied to the idling engine. A neutral start switch outputs an instruction signal to an ECU based on a switching operation of a shift lever from its neutral range to a drive range. Based on the instruction signal, the ECU computes a duty factor to increase the airflow amount through the idle speed control valve to a predetermined amount. The increased airflow amount is subsequently attenuated to a predetermined magnitude with an attenuation factor based on a change rate of the engine speed.

The gas introduction unit includes a first gas introduction chamber, which receives the gas supplied via the piping for reducing a flow velocity of the gas, and a second gas introduction chamber, which is in communication with the first gas introduction chamber, is formed over at least one of outer surfaces of the top furnace wall and the bottom furnace wall at the one end of the heat processing furnace, and extends in a belt-like form through an entire width of the heat processing furnace. A portion of the top furnace wall and/or bottom furnace wall, over which the second gas introduction chamber is formed, has a nozzle opening, which covers the entire width of the heat processing furnace for flowing the gas from the second gas introduction chamber into the inner space in a direction perpendicular to the top furnace wall and/or bottom furnace wall. The gas supply port and the first gas introduction chamber are preferably separated from each other by a partition which forms a portion of a cylindrical or spherical surface and has a plurality of through-holes.

The apparatus comprises R-wave detecting means for outputting an R-wave timing signal at the time of detection of the R-wave component contained in a detected electrocardiographic signal. A pulse wave peak detecting means is provided for outputting a peak timing signal at the time of the detection of a selected peak of the arterial pulse wave detected in the peripheral blood vessels of a patient's circulatory system. A pulse wave propagation time counter is provided for successively counting the time interval from the input of the R-wave timing signal to the input of the peak timing signal, and a pulse wave propagation time analyzer is provided for analyzing the distribution of pulse wave propagation times and other detected biophysiological parameters, from which an effective diagnosis of the condition of the patient's circulatory system can be made.

An oxygen concentrator for supplying enriched oxygen gas to an open breathing system of a human being or the like in synchronization with a breathing cycle of a patient is disclosed, comprising a thermocouple sensor and a control device for synchronizing the timing of opening an electromagnetic valve provided in the gas passageway with the beginning of an inhalation phase of the breathing cycle. The thermocouple sensor, located near the patient's nostrils detects the change in temperature of breathing air flow of the human being or the like and generates a detection signal indicating the instantaneous temperature of the breathing air flow. Thereafter, the control devices detects the beginning of an inhalation phase by comparing the successive two voltage levels of the detection signal. When the breathing cycle enters the inhalation phase, the control device opens the electromagnetic valve thereby permitting the flow of oxygen to the patient. Supplying oxygen only on the inhalation phase has the effect of remarkably increasing the efficiency of the oxygen concentrator moreover the detection signal is monitored to detect when the breathing cycle of the patient becomes irregular. Upon detection, the control device will supply oxygen continuously while giving an alarm signal so that emergency measures can be taken.

Single-oriented electrical steel sheets having a high magnetic induction can be produced by hot rolling a silicon steel raw material containing less than 0.06% of C and less than 4% of Si, subjecting to annealing step and cold rolling step conveniently repeatedly to form a cold rolled steel sheet having a final gauge and subjecting to a decarburization annealing and a final annealing to develop secondary recrystallized grains having (110)[001] orientation, said silicon steel raw material being characterized in containing 0.005-0.200% of Sb and less than 0.10% of at least one of Se and S.Said final annealing for secondary recrystallization at a temperature of 800.degree.-920.degree.C gives a preferable result.
