摘要: A pivoting casket carrier includes a pivoting bed having a predefined length and width. The bed includes a plurality of rollers disposed substantially transverse to the length of the bed for facilitating removal and placement of a casket on the bed. A pivoting mechanism is operatively connected to the bed to allow a predetermined degree of rotation of the bed about a central axis of the pivoting mechanism. A locking system is operatively coupled to the pivoting mechanism to enable operation of the pivoting mechanism to allow rotation of the bed when the locking system is in a first disengaged position, and disable operation of the pivoting mechanism to prevent rotation of the bed when the locking system is in a second engaged position.

摘要: A drum is driven by cord ends, which are wrapped onto the drum. The drum sits in a housing with slotted openings which are opposite each other and in a plane which is substantially tangent to the surface of the drum. The cord ends exit the housing through said slotted openings such that, even if both ends of the cord are pulled at the same time, the force is directed so that it does not cause, or minimizes, deflection of the drum.

摘要: A method for performing a checkpointing operation in a client/server computer system for safeguarding data in case of a failure. The records of a database are stored in a mass storage device, such as a hard disk drive array. A separate disk drive is dedicated for use only in conjunction with checkpointing. Periodically, when a checkpoint process is initiated, the server writes a number of its modified records to checkpoint files which are stored by the dedicated checkpoint disk drive. The write operation is performed through one or more sequential I/O operations. Thus, the modified records are stored in consecutive sectors of the hard disk drive. If the server becomes disabled, the data can be recovered by reading the contents of the most recent checkpoint files and loading the contents sequentially back to the server's main memory.

摘要: In a client/server computer system, a method for writing modified data in a cache memory back to a database residing in a hard disk drive. Rather than writing back all of the modified data as part of a checkpointing operation, the present invention designates an amount of the cache memory that is to be cleared for a pre-determined time interval. The amount of cache memory to be cleared is based on an estimate of how much new data is anticipated to be cached. Thereby, just enough memory is cleared and made available so as to accommodate the storage of new data. For the modified data which are to be written back to the database, a lazy writeback operation is utilized.

摘要: A foldable stadium seat (10) is disclosed which is manufactured from a pair of first and second generally planar seat members (11) and (12), which are both products of the same mold. This is made possible by a specific configuration of hinges wherein a first hinge half of a first hinge is attached at one end of the rear edge of the seat member and a second hinge half of a second hinge is positioned at a second end of the rear edge of the seat member. Each of the hinge halves are positioned along the rear edge such that when the rear edge of a second seat member is placed juxtaposition the rear edge of the first seat member, the hinge halves on the two seat members will interfit and can be engaged by a suitable hinge pin (14). Radial stops are formed along the rear edge of both seat members (11) and (12) to provide a radial stop for the foldable single mold stadium seat (10) when it is in the open position, having a first and second seat members (11) and (12) generally perpendicular to one another.
