A communication method of a User Equipment (UE) in a Dual Connectivity (DC)-based mobile communication system in which a Master Cell Group (MCG) and at least one Secondary Cell Group (SCG) are configured is provided. The method includes receiving measurement gap configuration information relating to a measurement gap used to periodically measure at least one serving cell, determining a first sub-frame included in the measurement gap using a System Frame Number (SFN) of the MCG and the received measurement gap configuration information, and performing a measurement on the at least one serving cell during at least one measurement gap sub-frame determined based on the determined first sub-frame.

Abstract: A system and a method that reports capability information regarding a dual mode User Equipment (UE) are provided. The UE supports Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD). The UE capability transmitting method includes receiving a message requesting UE capability information from an evolved Node B (eNB), generating first capability information and second capability information according to the UE capability information requesting message, and transmitting UE capability information including the first and second capability information to the eNB. The first capability information comprises FDD capability information applicable to an FDD mode or TDD capability information applicable to a TDD mode. The second capability information comprises capability information applicable to both the FDD mode and the TDD mode. The system and method can allow a dual mode UE to efficiently report its capability information.

Abstract: A random access method and an apparatus of a terminal for performing random access procedure to multiple base stations in parallel in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system supporting dual connectivity are provided. The method includes determining whether a first preamble transmission to a first cell of a first base station is overlapped with a second preamble transmission to a second cell of a second base station in a time domain, determining, when the first preamble transmission is overlapped with the second preamble transmission in the time domain, whether a sum of transmit powers calculated for the first and second preamble transmissions is greater than a maximum allowed transmit power of the terminal, and controlling, when the sum of the first and second preamble transmit powers is greater than the maximum allowed transmit power, the transmit power calculated for the second preamble transmission.

According to one embodiment of the present invention, the problem of network overload can be prevented by reducing signaling overhead when processing small packets, which are generated intermittently, in the mobile communication system, and an apparatus and a method for enhancing battery performance in the user equipment can be effectively provided.

Abstract: A method of operating a mobile terminal for network interworking is provided.
