Abstract:
Disclosed is a pressure-sensitive adhesive for single- or double-sidedly tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive strips that are redetachable without residue or destruction both by extensive stretching substantially in the bond plane and by peeling. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is composed at least of (1) a vinylaromatic block copolymer, (2) a solid tackifying resin having a softening temperature by the ring-and-ball method of more than 30° C. and (3) a resin which is liquid at room temperature (23° C.), wherein the fraction of liquid resin accounts for at least 40% by weight, based on the total amount of resin. Also disclosed are strips formed from the adhesive and the use of the strips to form redetachable bonds.
Abstract:
Adhesive tapes, articles containing the adhesive tapes, methods of making the adhesive tapes, and uses of the adhesive tapes are described. The adhesive tape is stretch releasable and can be used to couple two substrates together. The adhesive tape can be removed easily to separate the two substrates for any reason. The adhesive tape includes a backing layer and at least one pressure sensitive adhesive layer adjacent to the backing layer. The backing layer contains a poly(alkylene) copolymer. Each pressure sensitive adhesive layer contains an acrylic copolymer that is crosslinked plus inorganic particles that are dispersed or suspended in the acrylic copolymer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a peelable adhesive strip which is coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive at least one side. Said adhesive strip is constituted of the following layers: a core layer having an elongation at tear of at least 300%, an external carrier layer having an elongation at tear of not more than 120% and at least some sections of which are connected to the core layer in such a manner that it becomes detached from the core layer when the same is stretched, a first adhesive layer at least some sections of which are applied to the side of the external carrier layer and which is opposite the side connected to the core layer.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a mount includes dispensing a predetermined amount of molten thermoplastic adhesive on a release liner, attaching a tab to the adhesive while the adhesive is at a temperature above its softening point, and cooling the adhesive to a temperature below its softening point.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the invention provides a foam thermal interface material comprising a foamed film, the film comprising a blend of polymeric hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive having a number average molecular weight of greater than 25,000 and at least 25 percent by weight of thermally conductive filler, said film having a void volume of at least 5 percent of the volume of said foamed film.
Abstract:
A stretch releasing adhesive tape Keith an improved pull tab is disclosed. Methods are provided by which a single tab film may be adhered to an elongated strip of stretch releasing adhesive tape to form a manually engageable pull tab at a selected location. Such a pull tab may be foldable so as to comprise an unobtrusive visual appearance and may also be extendable so that the pull tab may be grasped to activate the stretch release.

Abstract:
A single-coated adhesive tape without a backing substrate is provided. The single-coated adhesive tape comprises an adhesive layer having a thickness of 30 to 1000 μm, which contains 50 to 95% by weight of a hot melt adhesive and 5 to 50% by weight of a layer having a thickness of 0.01 to 15 μm is provided on one surface of said adhesive layer.
Abstract:
A stretch releasing pressure sensitive adhesive tape includes a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition that exhibits a 180° peel strength on a glass substrate at 98% relative humidity of at least about 5.47 N/dm and a non-tacky tab. A stretch releasing pressure sensitive adhesive tape includes a pressure sensitive adhesive composition having a modulus at 1 radian/second and −17° C. of no greater than about 1×107 Pa and a non-tacky tab.
Abstract:
An adhesive article adapted to attach structures to a substrate and a method of using the same. The adhesive article has a failure mode that minimizes damage to the substrate surface. The adhesive article comprises an adhesive layer having a first adhesive region and a second adhesive region. The first adhesive region is adapted to attach a top portion of the structure to the substrate. The second adhesive region is adapted to attach a bottom portion of the structure to the substrate. The second adhesive region comprises reduced adhesive properties.
