    Abstract: A cable drive for a motor vehicle having a body and a door slidable outside the body has a rotatable shaft projecting through the body and having an outer end outside the vehicle adjacent the door and an inside end inside the vehicle.     Abstract: A connection wire is connected to a part of a rear door popped up in a door-opening direction by an urging force. A pulley rotates responsive to a driving motor inside a wire-winding device to wind the connection wire thereon. In this manner, the rear door is automatically closed. The pulley is urged in a connection wire-winding direction by a power spring. A clutch is between the pulley and the driving motor. When the rear door is pressed by an operator's hands in a door-closing direction while the rear door is being closed, the pulley is rotated by the power spring, thus winding the connection wire thereon and preventing the connection wire from becoming loose. At this time, the connection between the pulley and the driving motor is cut off by the clutch. Thus, the pulley is rotated by the power spring freely and rapidly. In this manner, the rear door can be closed manually even while it is being closed automatically. Further, the connection wire can be prevented from becoming loose and from being sandwiched between the body of the vehicle and the periphery of a rear opening thereof.

    Abstract: A powered sliding device for a sliding door comprises a wire drum rotated by a motor, a wire cable connecting the wire drum and the sliding door, a clutch mechanism provided between the wire drum and the motor. The clutch mechanism has a first coupling state for opening the door, a second coupling state for closing the door, and an uncoupling state. The wire drum has a cylindrical shape having a substantially closed end and an opposite open end, and an inner space formed inside thereof. The clutch mechanism is substantially provided within the inner space. The clutch mechanism is displaced into the first coupling state when the motor rotates in a given direction and displaced into the second coupling state when the motor rotates in a direction opposite to the given direction. A worm shaft extends from a driving motor and is rotatably coupled to a worm gear.     Abstract: A motor driven power door control system for a vehicle door includes a door position sensor that generates a door position signal for each predetermined distance of door movement so that the period of the door position signal is a measure of door speed. The motor control voltage is variably controlled to a controlled value to establish the door speed at a desired speed value. A cable entry slot is formed adjacent one end of the first groove portion and includes a cavity having a pair of generally parallel side walls extending at an angle of approximately 2.degree. 30' with respect to a pair of side walls of the groove.

A front cable attached to drive pulley (144) extends through guide assembly (54) to hinge and roller assemble (26).     Abstract: A sliding door in a van is mounted on tracks for sliding movement between open and closed positions. At the closed position a weather strip is compressed and a door latch is latched. A cable is attached to the door and routed through the vehicle body via pulleys so that pulling the first cable end opens the door and pulling the second cable end closes the door. A motorized drive mechanism includes first and second reels mounted concentrically and having the cable ends wrapped respectively about the reels in opposite directions. A motor drives in one direction rotating the first reel to open the door and is reversible to rotate the second reel to close the door. Each of the reels has a large diameter portion for winding the cable to provide relatively high speed and low force door movement over the greatest portion of travel and a small diameter portion for winding the cable to provide relatively low speed and high force movement of the door during the lesser portion of travel of the door closest to the closed position. The reels have cable set grooves to receive the cable and a spiral ramp groove to connect the large and small diameter portions. A tension retaining spring acts between the two reels to always maintain the cable under tension.
