This invention relates to a system for assembling two components of a device activating a window regulator on a fixed support. According to the invention, one of the components is secured to the other component by a securing means and at least one of the components is secured to the fixed support by another securing means.

A cable drive for a motor vehicle having a body and a door slidable outside the body has a rotatable shaft projecting through the body and having an outer end outside the vehicle adjacent the door and an inside end inside the vehicle. A drum outside the vehicle is mounted on the outside end and a cable wholly outside the vehicle is wound around the drum and connected to the door so that rotation of the drum and shaft in one direction slides the door into a closed position and opposite movement slides it into an open position. A motor unit wholly inside the vehicle is connected to the inside shaft end to rotate the shaft.
Abstract:
A connection wire is connected to a part of a rear door popped up in a door-opening direction by an urging force. A pulley rotates responsive to a driving motor inside a wire-winding device to wind the connection wire thereon. In this manner, the rear door is automatically closed. The pulley is urged in a connection wire-winding direction by a power spring. A clutch is between the pulley and the driving motor. When the rear door is pressed by an operator's hands in a door-closing direction while the rear door is being closed, the pulley is rotated by the power spring, thus winding the connection wire thereon and preventing the connection wire from becoming loose. At this time, the connection between the pulley and the driving motor is cut off by the clutch. Thus, the pulley is rotated by the power spring freely and rapidly. In this manner, the rear door can be closed manually even while it is being closed automatically. Further, the connection wire can be prevented from becoming loose and from being sandwiched between the body of the vehicle and the periphery of a rear opening thereof.

A powered sliding device for a sliding door comprises a wire drum rotated by a motor, a wire cable connecting the wire drum and the sliding door, a clutch mechanism provided between the wire drum and the motor. The clutch mechanism has a first coupling state for opening the door, a second coupling state for closing the door, and an uncoupling state. The wire drum has a cylindrical shape having a substantially closed end and an opposite open end, and an inner space formed inside thereof. The clutch mechanism is substantially provided within the inner space. The clutch mechanism is displaced into the first coupling state when the motor rotates in a given direction and displaced into the second coupling state when the motor rotates in a direction opposite to the given direction. The clutch mechanism is returned to the uncoupling state from the first coupling state when the motor is rotated in the opposite direction by a predetermined amount, and is returned to the uncoupling state from the second coupling state when the motor is rotated in the given direction by the predetermined amount.

A selectively engageable motor-drive assembly operable for moving a vehicle door or ramp to enable manual operation or motorized operation is provided, having a motor, a pulley drawing a cable attached to the door or ramp, a torque-multiplying arrangement positionable between a fully-engaged position and a partially-disengaged position, and an actuator mechanism for positioning the torque-multiplying arrangement in accordance with a selection of manual or motorized operation. The actuator mechanism may be actuated by a solenoid that is activated by an operator through a control unit. Also, a cam may be provided to define the movement of the actuator mechanism.

A universal window-actuator drive unit capable of use with either a cable pulley window-actuator or an arm-scissors type window-actuator. A worm shaft extends from a driving motor and is rotatably coupled to a worm gear. The worm gear is coupled in a rotational-slave relationship to a driving disk, and both the worm gear and the driving disk are rotatably supported on a gear housing shaft. At its end opposite the driving disk, the gear housing shaft includes an actuator shaft collar concentrically surrounding the gear housing shaft and having a grooved toothing about its inner circumference. This inner grooved toothing enables the window-actuator drive unit to be coupled to either a drive pinion of an arm-scissor type window actuator or a cable pulley of a cable pulley window actuator, each of which include couplings having an outer grooved toothing corresponding to the inner grooved toothing of the actuator shaft collar.

A motor driven power door control system for a vehicle door includes a door position sensor that generates a door position signal for each predetermined distance of door movement so that the period of the door position signal is a measure of door speed. The motor control voltage is variably controlled to a controlled value to establish the door speed at a desired speed value. A door position signal period stall time is determined that is a predetermined function of the controlled value of the motor control voltage so that the stall time is adapted to the motor torque. An obstructive load is indicated when the period of the door position signal exceeds the stall time.

A drum for winding a cable attached to an overhead door includes a hub having a central aperture for accepting a shaft, a radially extending boss formed on the hub and a threaded aperture extending through the boss for retaining a threaded fastener for releasably attaching the hub to a shaft extending through the central aperture, a web attached in a central portion of the hub, the web extending radially outwardly at an angle of approximately 60.degree. with respect to the longitudinal axis of the hub, and a cable support extending about and being attached to the web, the cable support having a multiturn generally helical cable winding groove formed in an outer surface thereof. The cable winding groove includes a first portion spaced a first predetermined constant radius from the longitudinal axis of the hub, a second portion extending from the first portion and a third portion extending from the second portion, the third portion being spaced a second predetermined constant radius from the longitudinal axis of the hub, the first radius being larger than the second radius and the second portion being spaced from the longitudinal axis by a variable radius uniformly decreasing from the first radius to the second radius. A cable entry slot is formed adjacent one end of the first groove portion and includes a cavity having a pair of generally parallel side walls extending at an angle of approximately 2.degree. 30' with respect to a pair of side walls of the groove.

A van door slidable in tracks (16, 18 and 20). An operating module is mounted inside the van adjacent center track 18. A front cable attached to drive pulley (144) extends through guide assembly (54) to hinge and roller assemble (26). A rear cable attached to drive pulley (136) extends through guide assembly (56) to hinge and roller assembly (26). The drive pulleys (136 and 144) each have a large diameter spiral cable groove (164), a small diameter cable groove (208) and a transition cable groove (210). A motor rotates the drive pulleys. The small diameter cable grooves drive the door when the door is in the forward portion of the tracks. The large diameter spiral cable grooves drive the door when the door is in the center and rear portions of the track. Fixed idler rollers (226 and 254) are positioned relative to the cable drive pulleys to insure that the total cable in the continuous cable loop is substantially the same when the cable is driven by the small diameter cable grooves as when the cable is driven by the large diameter spiral cable grooves. A cable tension system (220) maintains cable tension. A slack cable take-up pulley (174) on the drive pulley (136) takes up slack cable to set cable tension and is then locked in position.
Abstract:
A sliding door in a van is mounted on tracks for sliding movement between open and closed positions. At the closed position a weather strip is compressed and a door latch is latched. A cable is attached to the door and routed through the vehicle body via pulleys so that pulling the first cable end opens the door and pulling the second cable end closes the door. A motorized drive mechanism includes first and second reels mounted concentrically and having the cable ends wrapped respectively about the reels in opposite directions. A motor drives in one direction rotating the first reel to open the door and is reversible to rotate the second reel to close the door. Each of the reels has a large diameter portion for winding the cable to provide relatively high speed and low force door movement over the greatest portion of travel and a small diameter portion for winding the cable to provide relatively low speed and high force movement of the door during the lesser portion of travel of the door closest to the closed position. The reels have cable set grooves to receive the cable and a spiral ramp groove to connect the large and small diameter portions. A tension retaining spring acts between the two reels to always maintain the cable under tension.
