Abstract:
A powered hand-held band for cutting a work piece and a method for manufacture and use. The band saw includes alternate blade guides respectively for selectively using one of a first cutting path for cutting a work piece flush with respect to a work surface and a second cutting path for non-flush cuts.
Abstract:
An articulating band saw apparatus provides a frame that includes a vertically extending section having upper and lower end portions. An elevator moves between the upper and lower end portions of the frame. A first hydraulic actuator is supported on the elevator for movement therewith. A first arm provides arm end portions, the first arm supported by the first hydraulic actuator. An end of the first arm supporting a second hydraulic actuator that is spaced away from the first hydraulic actuator. The second hydraulic actuator supports a second arm. An endless band type saw is mounted on the free end of the second arm generally opposite the second actuator. The band saw is movable by articulation of the first and second actuators and resulting movement of the first and second arms. In one embodiment, the band saw is a diamond wire saw.
Abstract:
A band saw blade guide comprised of a cylindrical chisel shaped member mounted at an oblique angle to a band saw blade. The blade guide adjusts the angle of the band saw blade by rotation of the guide about its axis. By rotating the guide about its axis, the angle of the chisel point guiding surface is changed thereby changing the angle of the blade. Further the blade may be guided by a single guide forced against one surface of the blade thereby eliminating the need for guides on both sides of the blade.
Abstract:
A workpiece cutting method utilizing a band-saw machine, includes the following steps of: guiding tooth tips of an endless band-saw blade provided on the band-saw machine in a direction of a workpiece by a band-saw blade guiding apparatus; and applying vibrations to the band-saw blade in a cutting direction to the workpiece so as to perform cutting of the workpiece by a vibration applying unit provided on the band-saw blade guiding apparatus.
Abstract:
In a band saw machine in which a pair of guide posts (7L, 7R) for guiding a saw blade housing that rotatably supports a driving wheel (17) and a driven wheel (21) and can vertically move in the vertical direction are provided between the driving wheel (17) and the driven wheel (21), an upper traveling part (23U) of a band saw blade (23) is disposed in the rear of the guide posts (7L, 7R) and a lower traveling part (23L) of a band saw blade (23U) is disposed in front of the guide posts (7L, 7R), when the band saw machine is viewed from the side, an intersection point between centers of the both wheels (17, 21) and the center line of the wheel width is almost equal to the width of the guide posts (7L, 7R).
Abstract:
A saw mill has a head having at least one saw. The head is configured to travel on a track longitudinally to make alternating cuts between laterally spaced apart first and second work pieces. After traveling forward longitudinally to make a first cut of the first work piece at least one of the heads in the saw move laterally to then cut the second work piece on the return longitudinal trip.
Abstract:
Woodworking machines and safety methods for use with those machines are disclosed. The machines include a detection system adapted to detect one or more dangerous conditions between a person and the cutting tools, and a reaction system associated with the detection system. The reaction system is configured to retract the cutting tool at least partially away from the cutting region upon detection of a dangerous condition by the detection system.
Abstract:
A portable bank saw sawmill which includes a specially designed tubular frame with four rigid tubular posts attaching the overhead track system to the lower deck frame. Logs are placed and secured on the lower frame, the bandsaw assembly moves longitudinally of the frame by use of the overhead track, to make successive cuts with the saw. A hydraulic motor driving a sprocket and chain turns threaded rods to raise and lower the cutting assembly from the overhead track.
Abstract:
A means of automatically adjusting band saw blade guides according to the widths of the sawn material so as to minimize the unsupported length of a band saw blade combined with an improved means of removing material dust. The means of removing sawdust from the sawn material is also applicable to horizontal circular saw blades.
Abstract:
A band saw machine utilizes a column assembly in which the column is integrally formed from steel plate. The blade-carrying pulleys are mounted on one side of the column, which is mounted to pivot about a selected axis. A double-acting saw employs two confronting column assemblies.
