The one side of the disk master is etched to narrow the width of a protruding part constituting the recess/protrusion pattern, and the recess/protrusion pattern of the disk master with the reduced width of the protruding part is transferred to form a stamper. The recess/protrusion pattern provided on the stamper is transferred to form a predetermined pattern on a substrate of an optical disk.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a stamper for producing optical disks, comprising the application of a photoresist to a stamper plate and the structuring of the applied photoresist film. The structuring comprises the successive exposure, development and heating of the photoresist film. The developed photoresist film is subjected to an additional exposure in the deep UV range prior to the final heat treatment. The invention also relates to a stamper and to an optical disk obtained using the stamper.

A method for manufacturing an optical disc and a method for transporting a multi-layered optical disc are provided. When adhering the sheet and the disc substrate, after the adhesive is supplied to the outer side of the groove on the disc substrate, the sheet is loaded on the disc substrate. The adhesive is pressed to extend to the groove. At this timer, because the surplus adhesive is blocked when flowing into the groove, the surplus adhesive does not overflow easily toward the inner side of the groove. In addition, even if the adhesive overflows toward the inner side of the groove the adhesive is kept between the non-adhered portion of the sheet and the disc substrate, preventing the adhesive from moving to the disc surface. The non-adhered portion is cut by the cutting blade after the adhesive is completely cured, and then removed from the disc substrate.

A three dimensional optical data storage and retrieval system that includes a three dimensional optical data storage medium and an apparatus for providing access to data stored on the medium. The data storage medium includes an optical data storage material which either a low molecular weight or polymeric glassy solid that are capable of undergoing multi-photon excitation that are energetically different in the write and read cycles. The optical data storage materials provide substantially higher storage capacities relative to conventional materials, and show high robustness in that written and stored data can undergo multiple read cycles without erasure or overwriting. An apparatus for data recording and accessing stored data on the medium includes a controllable variable energy photo-emitting excitation source and an emission photo-detector.
