摘要: A seat belt pretensioner for a seat belt device in a vehicle, the pretensioner including a frame, a ball housing attached to the frame and a drive wheel located within the ball housing. A spool is connected to the drive wheel and is fixed to one end of a seat belt webbing so that the webbing may be wound around the spool. The pretensioner further includes a pipe connected to the ball housing and a gas generator connected to the pipe. At least one power transmission element is carried in the pipe and is driven by gas provided from the gas generator to contact the drive wheel and rotate the spool to retract the seat belt. A seal member is located between the at least one power transmission element and the gas generator. The seal member is sized to plug the pipe at an inlet to the ball housing.

摘要: Implementations include methods of controlling a haptic response comprising receiving a force signal from a force sensor; determining a force magnitude associated with the force signal; comparing the force magnitude with an initial threshold force amount to determine whether the force magnitude exceeds the initial threshold force amount; measuring an elapsed time that the force magnitude exceeds the initial threshold force amount; comparing the elapsed time to a minimum elapsed time; if the elapsed time being greater than the minimum elapsed time, generating a haptic feedback control signal, the haptic feedback control signal causing a haptic actuator to propagate a plurality of pressure waves at a propagation frequency, the propagation frequency being proportional to the force magnitude; and generating a scroll control signal that causes a menu system to scroll through a plurality of menu options provided by the menu system at a scroll frequency associated with the propagation frequency.

摘要: An airbag assembly for a vehicle according to various implementations includes an inflator and an airbag cushion. In some implementations, the airbag assembly also includes a housing. The inflator and the airbag cushion are stored in the housing when the airbag is in a non-deployed state. During a vehicle accident, the airbag cushion extends out of the housing to cushion movement of a vehicle occupant. The airbag cushion includes a main panel having a first edge and a second edge, a first side panel coupled to the first edge, and a second side panel coupled to the second edge. The first side panel and the second side panel comprise protrusions and a channel is defined by a portion of the main panel between the protrusions. In some implementations, the airbag assembly includes a second inflator.

摘要: In one embodiment, a system of detecting seat belt operation in a vehicle includes at least one light source configured to emit a predetermined wavelength of light onto structures within the vehicle, wherein at least one of the structures is a passenger seat belt assembly having a pattern that reflects the predetermined wavelength at a preferred luminance. At least one 3-D time of flight camera is positioned in the vehicle to receive reflected light from the structures in the vehicle and provide images of the structures that distinguish the preferred luminance of the pattern from other structures in the vehicle. A computer processor connected to computer memory and the camera includes computer readable instructions causing the processor to reconstruct 3-D information in regard to respective images of the structures and calculate a depth measurement of the distance of the reflective pattern on the passenger seat belt assembly from the camera.

摘要: An imaging system connected to an occupant monitoring system includes communications with an apparatus for measuring gas or airborne compound concentrations in a vehicle cabin. The apparatus includes a housing configured as a flow tube in fluid communication with ambient air in the vehicle cabin. A spectrometer is mounted within the housing and subject to ambient air flow through the housing, and the spectrometer is connected to a light source and receives reflected light from the air flow to detect by spectrum analysis the concentration of target gases and/or airborne compounds. The spectrometer identifies spectral changes in the light and reflected light within the ambient air flow. The spectrometer communicates with computerized vehicle control systems, and runs software stored to calculate the concentration of target gases and/or airborne compounds from the spectral changes.

摘要: Various implementations include a system for adjusting the position of a seatbelt in a vehicle. The system includes a shoulder anchor, at least one sensor, and a processor. The shoulder anchor is for receiving a seatbelt. The shoulder anchor is movable relative to a seat disposed within the vehicle. The processor is in electrical communication with the sensor and a memory. The processor executes computer-readable instructions stored on the memory. The instructions cause the processor to receive sensor data from the sensor, determine whether the seatbelt is within an expected area on a person in the seat based on the received sensor data, and cause the shoulder anchor to move relative to the seat in response to the seatbelt being outside of the expected area on the person in the seat such that the seatbelt is moved into the expected area.

摘要: Methods for marking a seat belt webbing with an infrared compound are described herein. The methods comprise ablating a surface of the seat belt webbing by directing one or more laser pulses toward the seat belt webbing; and coating the ablated surface of the seat belt webbing with the infrared compound, wherein the infrared compound increases absorptivity or reflectivity of the seat belt webbing to infrared radiation. Methods for optically monitoring operation of the seat belt webbing in a vehicle and distinguishing between proper positioning and improper positioning of the seat belt webbing are also disclosed.
