摘要: A method and system for supporting operation of a scheduler by providing indications of communication device transmit buffer status is provided. The indication of buffer status can be generated by a third-party device which is external to both the communication device and the scheduler. In some embodiments matched local and remote models of the buffer are maintained at the communication device and third-party device (or scheduler), respectively. The communication device monitors locally for drift of the model from the actual buffer status. When a level of mismatch in the model is detected, both the local and remote models are updated to mitigate the mismatch.

摘要: A method and apparatus for handling a packet. The packet handling may include receiving the packet, associating the packet with configuration information, and performing packet handling operations on the packet according to packet handling instructions defined by the configuration information. A method and apparatus for encapsulating packets, decapsulating packets, or both, at a radio access node. The encapsulation and/or decapsulation operations are performed based on updateable configuration information specifying the operations to be performed without having to process the packet using the protocol with which it has been encoded.

摘要: A method, apparatus and system for transmitting control plane messages in a communication network. Messaging is between two logical nodes, e.g. gNBs. Logical nodes include multiple networked sub-entities. Multiple sub-interfaces couple a pair of logical nodes. One sub-interface is selected based on keys associated with content of a message. Key-to-sub-interface associations are stored in memory. The keys may be identifiers included in the control plane message, such as UE IDs, Cell IDs, etc. Packets carrying the control plane message are configured and transmitted using the selected sub-interface. A key-to-sub-interface association may be established or updated when a control plane message is received via the sub-interface and includes the key, or in response to a rejection message specifying the correct sub-interface to use. A middle box entity may be provided in a logical node for each sub-interface and configured to act at least initially to forward messages to appropriate sub-entities.

摘要: There is disclosed a system for transmitting data to users. The system includes nodes interconnected by at least one data network. The nodes are organized hierarchically to comprise a root node and at least two child nodes. The data transmission characteristics of communication with each of the child nodes are different. The root node is configured to: receive data transmission preferences of a particular user; receive data to be transmitted to the particular user; and transmit a selected subset of the data to at least one of the child nodes. The subset selected based on at least the received data transmission preferences and the data transmission characteristics, to permit the particular user to obtain data from the child nodes according to the data transmission preferences. The at least one of the child nodes being configured to: receive data from the root node; and transmit at least part of the received data to the user.

摘要: A buffer node and method of buffering packet data units are provided. The buffer node comprises a receive interface configured to receive a complex queue configuration and to receive packet data units, a buffer configured to implement a queue graph configuration associated with the complex queue configuration to buffer incoming packets into queues, and a send interface configured to send the dequeued incoming packets to a destination node. The queue graph configuration comprises at least one classifier configured to determine a classification type for an incoming packet, at least two queues configured to store incoming packets, and at least one dequeuer configured to select a queue from the at least two queues to be dequeued and to apply a dequeueing function on that selected queue. The method comprises a buffer node receiving a complex queue configuration from a configuration entity, receiving a plurality of packet data units from at least one the packet source node, and sending each incoming packet to one of the at least two queues based on the queue graph configuration. The complex queue configuration is associated with a queue graph configuration for buffering packet data units.

摘要: Methods for configuring user plane functions associated with a network slice. The methods include: creating a mapping between a network slice instance and a respective TNL marker; selecting the network slice in response to a service request; identifying the respective TNL marker based on the mapping and the selected network slice; and communicating the identified TNL marker to a control plane function.

摘要: A method and apparatus for paging an application on a User Equipment, UE are disclosed. When an application server is to push a notification or other data to an application operating on the UE, the application server transmits a paging notification for transmission to the UE. Prior to the transmission of a paging notification by the application server, the application provides an identifier to the application server, wherein the identifier includes at least some details relating to the application and the associated UE. The identifier can be used by communication mechanisms intermediate between the application server and the UE to direct the paging notification to the UE with which the intended application is associated. According to embodiments, the paging notification can be configured such that a locator function, which may operate in a manner similar to a Domain Name Service (DNS) server, can determine the operator network which provides communication connectivity to the UE. The operator network can subsequently be instructed to transmit a suitable paging notification to the UE. In some embodiments, the paging notification is configured as a Short Message Service (SMS) which is directed to the UE.

摘要: In accordance with an embodiment, a method of operating a base station configured to communicate with at least one user device includes transmitting a first group of resource elements that include a time and a frequency. At least one of the first group's resource elements includes a reference element. It is determined if the at least one user device will decode a further resource element using the reference element of the at least one of the resource elements of the first group of resource elements. Based on the determining, if the user device will decode the further resource element, a second group of resource elements is transmitted, where at least one of the resource elements of the second group of resource elements corresponding with the at least one of the resource elements of the first group does not include a reference element.
