A reconfigurable vector processor is described that allows the size of its vector units to be changed in order to process vectors of different sizes. The reconfigurable vector processor comprises a plurality of processor units. Each of the processor units comprises a control unit for decoding instructions and generating control signals, a scalar unit for processing instructions on scalar data, and a vector unit for processing instructions on vector data under control of control signals. The reconfigurable vector processor architecture also comprises a vector control selector for selectively providing control signals generated by one processor unit of the plurality of processor units to the vector unit of a different processor unit of the plurality of processor units.
Abstract:
The invention proposes a simple method for controlling distributed functional units (FU) in a system. It offloads the main system processor from intermediate status monitoring. The sequencer controlled system comprises a plurality of functional units, a processor operatively coupled to the plurality of functional units through a bus, a sequencer having a set of registers, and an interrupt source register configured for interrupt polling. The registers are configured to control the timing of at least one operation of the functional units with stored instructions for each of the functional units. The processor sets up at least some of the registers through the bus for the initial configuration and the sequencer is activated by the processor.
Abstract:
A high-throughput assay for characterizing a subject's genetic makeup is disclosed. Specifically a high-throughput assay utilizing PCR is disclosed that permits the rapid and accurate characterization of a subject's inherited alleles of the polymorphic glutathione S-transferase (GST) genes GSTM1, GSTM3, GSTP1, and GSTT1. This method allows detection of the specific alleles inherited, including the gene dosage of GSTM1 and GSTT1 while not requiring restriction endonuclease digestion of the PCR products in order to detect length differences. Further, the method allows all analyses to be performed simultaneously in the same gel lane, thus further adding efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

A guide wire device is housed in the body and is configured to advance and retract through the barrel. The guide wire device carries a bundled arrangement including a video system, an illumination system to support the video system, a fluid irrigation line, and a guide wire mechanism. The bundled arrangement is packaged as a unit in an insertion tube. The tip section of the insertion tube incorporates a camera, a light source, and a fluid irrigation port. A catheter is disposed at the end of the barrel, so that during operation the guide wire device passes through the catheter lumen. The combination guide wire device and catheter enter the urinary tract and perform a bladder evacuation process.

Abstract:
Complementary DNA and genomic clones for three variants of GST-.pi. are disclosed. It is demonstrated that certain of these variants are overexpressed in gliomas, thereby indicating an involvement with that form of cancer. This permits the detection and treatment of certain classes of tumors using new compositions such as GST-.pi. genes, oligonucleotides, peptides and antibodies.
Abstract:
A system and method for video assisted percutaneous needle cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy to assist physicians in quickly intubating patients suffering from respiratory distress when oral or nasal intubation is not possible or contraindicated. The system and method includes a display monitor, a percutaneous needle assembly including a connection hub having a syringe port for removably attaching a syringe, a needle port for attaching a hollow needle, and a stylet port in communication with the needle port for receiving a fiber optic stylet that extends through the hollow needle. The fiber optic stylet includes one or more illuminators, and a camera for capturing and transmitting anatomical images for display on the display monitor to visually assist physicians in locating a patient's trachea lumen. The fiber optic stylet is positioned within the trachea lumen, and used as a guide wire to insert a dilator and cannula for ventilating the patient.
