    Abstract: The invention proposes a simple method for controlling distributed functional units (FU) in a system. It offloads the main system processor from intermediate status monitoring. The sequencer controlled system comprises a plurality of functional units, a processor operatively coupled to the plurality of functional units through a bus, a sequencer having a set of registers, and an interrupt source register configured for interrupt polling. The registers are configured to control the timing of at least one operation of the functional units with stored instructions for each of the functional units. The processor sets up at least some of the registers through the bus for the initial configuration and the sequencer is activated by the processor.

    Abstract: A high-throughput assay for characterizing a subject's genetic makeup is disclosed. Specifically a high-throughput assay utilizing PCR is disclosed that permits the rapid and accurate characterization of a subject's inherited alleles of the polymorphic glutathione S-transferase (GST) genes GSTM1, GSTM3, GSTP1, and GSTT1. This method allows detection of the specific alleles inherited, including the gene dosage of GSTM1 and GSTT1 while not requiring restriction endonuclease digestion of the PCR products in order to detect length differences. Further, the method allows all analyses to be performed simultaneously in the same gel lane, thus further adding efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

    Abstract: A portable hand-held medical device includes a body having a gun-type formation that includes a barrel. A guide wire device is housed in the body and is configured to advance and retract through the barrel. The guide wire device carries a bundled arrangement including a video system, an illumination system to support the video system, a fluid irrigation line, and a guide wire mechanism. The bundled arrangement is packaged as a unit in an insertion tube. The tip section of the insertion tube incorporates a camera, a light source, and a fluid irrigation port. A catheter is disposed at the end of the barrel, so that during operation the guide wire device passes through the catheter lumen. The combination guide wire device and catheter enter the urinary tract and perform a bladder evacuation process.
