摘要： Esters produced by the catalyzed reaction of alcohols and acids or anhydrides are neutralized by treatment with an aqueous alkaline alkali metal salt solution in an amount that provides less than a stoichiometric amount of alkali metal salt in relation to the acidity of the crude ester and the amount of water present during the treatment is from 0.8 to 1.4 wt % of water based on the weight of crude ester. When using titanium as the esterification catalyst, the ester resulting from this process contains less than 0.01 ppm by weight of titanium residue, so that it is storage stable when stored in the presence of an antioxidant.

Mixed ester products of the process containing a C9-C11 alkyl or isodecyl benzoate together with a higher molecular weight di-alkyl phthalate or cyclohexanoate, bring performance advantages such as improved permanence in plasticized PVC articles or improved processability in manufacturing these articles.

摘要： Provided are compositions, processes for making, and processes for using neoalkyl polyol esters and triglycerides as plasticizers. In one form, a neoalkylester triglyceride plasticizers can be produced by (i) drying a polyol feedstream; (ii) contacting in a reactor the dried polyol feedstream with a neoacid feedstream under effective temperature, pressure and time to form a neoalkylester plasticizer effluent stream, and (iii) purifying the neoalkylester plasticizer effluent stream to remove unreacted polyol and unreacted neoacid to form a neoalkylester plasticizer. Such plasticizers can be phthalate-free and provide outstanding properties including a suitable melting or pour point, glass transition temperature, low volatility, increased compatibility, increased hydrolytic stability, and excellent low temperature properties in a range of polymeric resins.

摘要： Provided are compounds of the formula: wherein m=0-3 and n=0-3, and R1 represents CxH2x wherein x=0 to 4 or cyclohexane; R2 represents H, a C1-C6 alkyl group at any of the ortho-, meta- or para-positions, a residue including heteroatoms chosen from O, N, and S, or mixtures thereof; and R3 and R4 represent hydrocarbon residues of OXO-C5-C9 alcohols which are different isomers of equal carbon number or different in carbon number. Also provided are processes for making the compounds and plasticized polymer compositions containing said compounds.

摘要： C9 to C11 alkyl benzoates are used as plasticisers for polyvinyl chloride in particular in combination with plasticisers such as di-2-ethyl hexyl phthalate, diisononyl phthalate, di-2-propyl heptyl phthalate, diisodecyl phthalate or di-2-ethyl hexyl terephthalate. The use of the C9 to C11 alkyl benzoates provides low viscosity low volatility plasticisers, which are fast fusing with lower hot bench gelation temperature and which can be used to reduce the staining problems associated with use of di-2-ethyl hexyl phthalate and diisononyl phthalate. The low viscosity of the C9 to C11 alkyl benzoates allows the formulation of solvent free flexible PVC formulations meeting stringent VOC limitations.
