Abstract:
The present invention relates to an indicating device for use with medical injection devices for administering a drug into the body of a subject user wherein the indicating device is configured for indicating after administration that a dose of the drug actually has been administered and for maintaining this indication until lapse of a pre-defined time interval. The time delay indicator disclosed is based on a mechanical time delay device and includes a visual indicator that is controlled by the mechanical time delay device for signalling the status of the device during lapse of the pre-defined time interval.
Abstract:
Drug delivery system comprising a main portion with a cap as well as a needle assembly with a needle mounted in a hub and a needle cap releasably mountable on the hub to cover the needle. The cap comprises gripping means reversibly operatable between a first condition in which there is no gripping engagement between the mounted cap portion and the needle cap, this allowing the cap portion to be removed from the main portion without removing the needle cap from the hub, and a second condition in which the cap portion grippingly can engage the needle cap of a needle assembly, this allowing the needle cap to be removed from the hub together with the cap. The cap further comprises user actuation means for operating the gripping means between the two conditions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a medical injection device (1) for use in combination with a medicament filled cartridge (2), the injection device being provided with a spring-assisted injecting mechanism where energy released from the spring moves a plunger (3) of a held cartridge (2). Sensor circuitry is adapted to detect speed related data during injection so at to detect an abnormal speed condition, such as a needle blocking condition, a priming condition or an air purge condition. The invention also relates to a medical injection device comprising sensor circuitry and user communicating means to provide a recommended needle retraction waiting period which is dependent on the speed of injection.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cartridge adapted to contain a medicament, the cartridge further being adapted to be inserted into an associated medication delivery device. The cartridge according to the present invention comprises a plurality of electrode elements arranged on an exterior surface part of the cartridge, wherein an electrode element of said plurality of electrode elements comprises a receiver zone and a transmitter zone, said receiver and transmitter zones being electrically connected. The receiver and transmitter zones are adapted to electrically couple to one or more transmitters and to one or more receivers, respectively, said one or more transmitters and said one or more receivers being arranged on the associated medication delivery device.
Abstract:
An injection system for preparing a mixture of a solvent and a medicament and for subsequent dosed injection of the mixture comprises a syringe accommodating an ampoule (7) in which a liquid is stored between a membrane (8) dosing one end of the ampoule (7) and a piston (6) which can by a piston rod (3) be forced into the ampoule (7) to press out a dose of the liquid. The piston rod (3) and the piston (6) has mutual engaging threads (4, 5) by which the piston (6) is coupled to the piston rod (3) to follow this rod in both axial directions. An outer thread (30) engaging an inner thread (29) in a housing is provided on a part (28) of the piston rod (3) so that rotation of the piston rod (3) will screw this rod and the piston (6) into the ampoule (7). A detent (18) ensures that the piston rod (3) is only rotated in a dose administering direction. However, the thread (30) of the piston rod (3) can be disengaged from the thread (29) of the housing to set the piston rod (3) free to be moved in a proximal direction.
Abstract:
A kit for mixing comprises a housing accommodating an ampoule containing a solid and a container containing a solvent which is either pre-pressurized or which may be pressurized when it is desired to mix to the liquid and solid components. A needle unit comprises a first needle, the opposite ends of which pierce rubber membranes closing the ampoule and the container, to establish a transport channel through which pressurized solvent flows from the container to the ampoule. The ampoule is vented through a second needle inserted through the membrane of the ampoule and provided with a micro-filter. In one embodiment, the needle unit is displaceable to cause the ends of the needles to pierce the respective membranes, and locked in place by a spring biased locking mechanism. A branch passage from the needle is connected to a cylinder containing a piston coupled to the locking mechanism. When the ampoule is full, pressure in the branch passage will rise, actuating the piston and releasing the locking mechanism. In an alternative embodiment, the needle mechanism is stationary, and the ampoule and container are moved into engagement with the respective needle ends.
Abstract:
A system comprising first and second drug delivery devices (1) based on the same technology platform, each comprising a main portion (3) with a reservoir holding a type of drug, a drug outlet, and drug expelling means for expelling drug from the reservoir through the drug outlet, as well as a cap (100) releasably mountable to the main portion to enclose the drug outlet, each cap comprising a unique user-identifiable marking indicating the corresponding type of drug. The cap and main portion of each drug delivery device comprise a pair of corresponding key structures preventing the first cap from being mounted on the second main portion, and the second cap from being mounted on the first main portion.
Abstract:
A regular metallic, cylindrical tubular needle cannula (1) is subjected to a metal etching liquid (21) in the inside lumen (4) thereby increasing the inside diameter and enhancing the flow properties while maintaining the outside appearance. The inside diameter is only increased over a controlled length (7) of the full length of the needle cannula (1) leaving sufficient length and wall thickness to also taper the outside diameter.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a medication delivery device comprising a reminder unit for reminding an individual having a medical diseases to take a medicament. The reminder unit comprises means for providing a reminder signal to the individual having the medical disease, the reminder signal being triggered by data associated with a previously occurred event, the associated data being stored in a storage means. Alternatively, the reminder signal may be triggered by a position signal generated by position determining means adapted to determine the position of the medication delivery device.
