摘要: The exercise performance monitoring glove consists of a pair of flexible gloves that have embedded pressure sensor arrays to measure hand pressure applied to them during physical activities such as exercise. Each glove sends its pressure data in a real-time format using an embedded wireless RF transmitter to the opposite glove. The gloves then compare the pressures and provide feedback through a user selectable choice of either audio, visual or vibratory methods. Audio feedback is provided to earbuds using typical connection means such as Bluetooth connection to a smartphone or remote device having an exercise performance monitoring app. Visual feedback is provided in several possible modes such as text, color, and graphics using an embedded wraparound flexible display screen. Vibratory feedback is provided using embedded vibration devices inside the gloves. Once a specific feedback mode is selected using the performance monitoring app, the user will know whether the gloves are in a balanced or unbalanced state. Using this real-time feedback allows the user to make corrections in the hand grip forces to achieve a balanced state. The gloves can be used in a wide variety of situations such as exercise, sports, and for medical rehabilitation where body balance is important.

摘要: A surgical jig for determining an axis extending into the end of a bone (2). The jig comprises a platform (10) arranged to be supported upon a resected surface (4) at an end of a bone (2), first and second clamps (16) and an alignment guide (18). The first and second clamps (16) are coupled to the platform (10) and are arranged to engage first and second portions of a bone lip (6) extending around at least part of the resected surface (4) to secure the platform (10) to the resected surface (4). The alignment guide (18) defines an axis extending into the end of the bone (2), the alignment guide (18) being pivotally coupled to the platform (10). A method of determining an axis extending into the end of a bone (2) using the surgical jig is also disclosed. The method comprises resecting the end of a bone (2) to leave a bone lip (6), coupling the surgical jig to the resected end of the bone (2), and pivoting the alignment guide (18) until the alignment guide (18) coincides with a required axis extending into the end of the bone (2).

摘要: A portable electronic device and a method to protect the portable electronic device from a battery bounce are provided. The portable electronic device (100) can comprise a free-fall condition sensor (105) enabled to detect a pre-battery bounce condition in the portable electronic device and a processor (110) coupled to the free-fall condition sensor (105). The processor (110), in response to a detection of the pre-battery bounce condition by the free-fall condition sensor (105), can be programmed to place the portable electronic device (100) in a pre-battery bounce setting. The method can include detecting a pre-battery bounce condition in the portable electronic device (405) and in response to the detection of the pre-battery bounce condition (405), placing the portable electronic device in a pre-battery bounce setting (410).

摘要: A high frequency, high speed data communication system for providing electronic mail, file transferring, Internet access, weather forecasts and other database and communication options to remote HF/MF users, such as vessels at sea. A conventional, multi-featured, land-line bulletin board system is employed at a central communication facility for the provision of data communication services. A remote computer accesses an HF/MF link at the central communication facility via an HF/MF modem coupled to an HF/MF radio and antenna. The HF/MF link includes an antenna, HF/MF radio, HF/MF modem, and an interface computer for performing protocol and interface conversion between the land-line BBS and the HF/MF modem. Multi-user capability is provided through the simultaneous employment of multiple HF/MF links at the central communication facility. Multi-frequency operation of each HF/MF link is provided through the scanning of each HF/MF radio in conjunction with an antenna tuning system. The antenna tuning system provides virtually instantaneous tuning of an antenna among a predetermined set of frequencies through the switching in of one of a set of pre-tuned manual antenna tuners. A centralized scanning computer facilitates multi-frequency operation through the dynamic reallocation of assigned frequencies among the various HF/MF links so that any links which are not busy servicing users can be employed to scan available frequencies.

摘要: A bottle cap remover includes a pair of axially nested socket sections of different diameters depending axially from a larger-diameter grasping section. Each of the socket sections includes frictional gripping members along their inner walls that are adapted to frictionally engage different sizes and types of metal and plastic bottle caps, thereby to enable the user to twist off and remove the bottle caps by applying a relatively small twisting force to the grasping section.
