Abstract:
One embodiment of a portable media equipment support device comprising a hollow shaft having a first shaft end and a second shaft end. A manually rotatable handle is operatively mounted relative to the first shaft end and a mounting device rotational actuator is operatively mounted to the second shaft end. The manually rotatable handle is connected to mounting device rotational actuator by a drive rod internally running through said hollow shaft. A bevel gear system is internally located in said rotational actuator and used to translate motion approximately 90 degrees into a media mounting device. The media mounting device is used to secure and carry a media equipment element. The rotatable handle serves to control the motion of the drive rod and is thereby translated by the bevel gear system. This sequence of mechanical reactions is used to facilitate at least one of the panning or tilting motions of the media equipment. A locking screw connected to the head unit of the mounting device rotational actuator serves to secure the bevel gear system from rotation. Thereby allowing for said media equipment to be secured in a locked position, if desired. Other embodiments are described and shown.
Abstract:
A hybrid continuous fermentation system and related process for fermenting sugars to produce alcohol containing liquors. The system includes a fermentor arranged with a packed bed region and a fluidized bed region. A yeast bed is retained in the packed bed region using a retention matrix and flocculation. A sugar supply is directed through the yeast bed with sufficient dwell time for satisfactory sugar conversion. The fluidized bed region is arranged to allow fermented product to pass through the fermentor while allowing yeast cell growth and retention. A nutrient may be added to the fermentor to aid in yeast flocculation. The fermentor is sized and shaped to allow sufficient dwell time of the sugar supply in the packed bed region and in the fluidized bed region to maximize sugar conversion to ethanol by fermentation.
Abstract:
An in-flight system provides a user with an entertainment environment including movies, music, games, internet, map, etc. The in-flight system provides stored media content on one or more servers located throughout an aircraft cabin and each server is associated with a plurality of seats. In a preferred embodiment, the in-flight system provides for a communication port (e.g., USB or mini-USB connector or micro-USB connector) for connection to personal electronic device providing access to the server containing the stored media, access to an internet connection, and power. In one embodiment, the in-flight system provides for a seat display unit (typically located in the seat back of the next forward seat) and associated media module hardware to process the stored media content and drive the display. In one embodiment, the in-flight system comprises an isolation module or equivalent circuitry or logic that can isolate the media module and/or the personal electronic device from the remainder of the in-flight system, allowing for updates to the in-flight system without recertification from the FAA.
Abstract:
3-phosphoindole compounds substantially in the form of a single enantiomer useful for the treatment of Flaviviridae virus infections, and particularly for HIV infections are provided. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising the 3-phosphoindole compounds alone or in combination with one or more other anti-viral agents, processes for their preparation, and methods of manufacturing a medicament incorporating these compounds.
Abstract:
A registry for designating authoritative sourcing of data from a data environment in a computer readable storage medium. Selected data content resides into a first data subject area in the form of a common business language, and metadata including characteristics of data stores in the data environment resides into a second data subject area, which is a metadata repository. Data linking a term in the first data subject area with an authoritative location of data associated with the term, as identified in the second data subject area, resides into a third subject area, which is the registry. A basis of authority of the data location and operating scope of the data may be designated in the third data store. Operating scopes may be functional, geographic, temporal, organizational, or a combination thereof. A computer program product and computer readable memory system for designating authoritative sourcing in a data environment are provided.
Abstract:
Computer-facilitated design of large-scale, multi-factorial cell culture experiments and the like, and control of reaction sites and/or arrays of reaction sites to perform such experiments using automated devices. In certain cases, the invention is directed to controlling a plurality of cell culture experiments, e.g., using an automated cell culture device. In one set of embodiments, a data structure or a “descriptor” for use with cell culture experiments is provided. The descriptor may be used, for instance, to control one or more cell culture experiments, to identify one or more cell culture experiments, and/or to identify or “tag” data arising from one or more cell culture experiments, e.g., for further analysis or recall.
Abstract:
A lid for a beverage container may include an upper rim and a lower rim, an upper surface extending between the upper rim, a lid sidewall extending between the lower rim and the upper rim, a fitting including a resiliently compressible material positioned along the sidewall to sealingly engage with an inner surface of a sidewall of a vessel, a grip dimensioned to be grasped by a user to manipulate a position of the lid, and a nozzle extending from the upper surface of the lid.
Abstract:
A beverage container system may include a vessel having an interior volume for containing a beverage and shell having an interior volume for removably coupling vessel therein. The vessel may include an inner wall, an outer sidewall, and a sealed volume between the inner wall and the outer wall. The sealed volume may be at a vacuum pressure. The vessel may be constructed from glass while the shell may be constructed from a durable material such as stainless steel.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide a method, system, and media for intelligently presenting buttons that correspond to running windows as well as a set of application launchers that launch instances of software applications. One version of the method includes receiving an indication that an instance of a software application has been invoked by a launching mechanism, which leads to creating a windowed process in which to present the instance of the software application; determining that at least one of the application launchers was the launching mechanism; automatically removing the launcher(s) from view; and presenting a button that corresponds to the windowed process.
