    摘要: An expanding measuring beam is inserted into a cavity of a frequency-scanning interferometer. The expanding measuring beam encounters non-specular (diffuse) reference and object surfaces so that the reflected light can be imaged with an imaging system of reduced dimension. The compact interferometer is adaptable to a variety of applications. For example, the compact interferometer can be incorporated into a sensor of a multi-stage measuring instrument or into a handheld imager.

    摘要: A polychromatic diffractive lens is usable with broadband or multi-spectral illumination to bring a plurality of spectral components of the illumination to a common focus in space. The lens has a Fresnel zone structure of zones and a profile which provides a phase jump delay at each zone boundary to the illumination of at least one of the spectral components which is greater than one period (wave) of that wavelength, and more particularly, a multiple of 2.pi.p, where p is an integer greater than or equal to two. The parameter p and the width of the zones are selected so that the spectral components are directed, and if desired directed so as to be brought to the common focus with high diffraction efficiency in distinct diffractive orders, the lens thereby being a multi-order diffractive (MOD) lens. Applications for MOD lenses are in color (RGB) displays, color laser printers, which printers may utilize one MOD lens to image laser beams in red, blue and green wavelengths (multi-spectral illumination) to the same focal spot for forming color images as the beams scan an image forming element, such as a xerographic receptor.

The structured surface of the first optical film includes a plurality of tall structures separated by short structures with the tops of neighboring tall structures separated by a distance of between about 50 and about 150 microns. The tall structures of the first optical film penetrate the adhesive layer, but the short structures do not.

    摘要: An optical imaging system is disclosed for selective thermal transfer of a material from a donor film to a substrate. The imaging system includes a light source assembly that is configured to emit a patterned light beam. The patterned light beam includes a plurality of discrete output light segments where the segments at most partially overlap. The imaging system further includes a light relay assembly that receives and projects the plurality of discrete output light segments onto a transfer plane so as to form a projected light segment by a substantial superposition of the plurality of discrete output light segments. When a donor film that includes a transferable material is placed proximate a substrate that lies in the transfer plane, the projected light segment is capable of inducing a transfer of the transferable material onto the substrate.

    摘要: A frequency-scanning interferometer is modified to include a diffuse reference surface. An illuminating system produces an expanding measuring beam, portions of which reflect from a test object surface and the diffuse reference surface on converging paths to an imaging system. Interference patterns between overlapping images of the object and reference surfaces are generated at a plurality of frequencies for measuring the object surface with respect to the reference surface.

    摘要: A bar code label scanning system comprises a light source for producing a light beam at a first wavelength which is swept across a bar code. Light from the bar code is passed through a filter for attenuating light scattered from said bar code to approximately a level of light emitted from a fluorescent ink, having an excitation wavelength equal to said first wavelength, in response to irradiation by said light beam. The filtered light is received and a signal representative of the amplitude of the filtered light is generated. The signal is decoded to provide a bit string encoded in said bar code.
