Described are diester amine adducts of formula (1) wherein R1, R2, R3, R4 are each independently of one another C4-C22alkyl; C2-C22alkenyl; or C5-C7cycloalkyl; X1 and X2 are each independently of the other hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl; C2-C4hydroxyalkyl or C2-C4hydroxyhaloalkyl; Y is a radical of formula (1b); A1 is C2-C3alkylene or 2-hydroxy-n-propylene; X3 is hydrogen; C1-C4alkyl, C2-C4hydroxyalkyl; or C2-C4hydroxyhaloalkyl; (A) is an asymmetrical carbon atom in the R- or S-configuration, wherein, if C1=R, C2=R; C1=S, C2=S; and C1=R; C2=S; m1 is 1 or 2; and n is an integer from 1 to 4; p is 0 or 1; which adducts may be in the form of free bases or ammonium salts. Said compounds are precursors of compounds having good complex-forming properties and are thus able to effectively bind heavy metal ions such as iron, zinc, magnesium or copper ions and to prevent metal-initiated oxidations after enzymatic or chemical cleavage. They have a plurality of uses, for example in foods, beverages, derusting and decalcification baths, as additives in liquids for cooling-water circuits, in personal-care products, as bleaching stabilizers, in cleaning agents and detergents, in the textile industry and also as soft handle agents for organic fibre materials.

A nanodispersion comprises (a) a membrane-forming molecule, (b) a coemulsifier and (c) a lipophilic component, in pharmaceutical end formulations, the nanodispersion being obtainable by (α) mixing the components (a), (b) and (c) until a homogeneous clear liquid is obtained, and (β) adding the liquid obtained in step (α) to the water phase of the pharmaceutical end formulations, where steps (α) and (β) may be carried out without high energy mixing or homogenization. The nanodispersions prepared according to this invention are suitable as transport vehicles for pharmaceutical active agents.

A description is given of the use of a nanodispersion, which comprises (a) a membrane-forming molecule, (b) a coemulsifier and (c) a lipophilic component, in cosmetic end formulation, which nanodispersion is obtainable by (α) mixing the components (a), (b) and (c) until a homogeneous clear liquid is obtained, and (β) adding the liquid obtained in step (α) to the water phase of the cosmetic end formulations, steps (α) and (β) being carried out without any additional supply of energy. The nanodispersions used according to this invention can be easily prepared and are suitable as carrier systems for a very wide range of cosmetic active agents and oil-soluble dyes.

The easily accessible triazine derivatives are suitable for protecting ultraviolet-sensitive materials, in particular skin and hair of humans and animals, from the harmful effects of UV radiation.

The nanoparticles are useful in personal care applications and impart antimicrobial properties to home and personal care products containing them. The invention relates to cleaning compositions comprising (a1) a phenolic antioxidant of the formula (1) and/or (2); and/or (a2) an antioxidant of the formula (3); and (b) a surfactant comprising a long alkyl or alkenyl chain. The antioxidants used according to the invention have excellent reactivity, good stability to hydrolysis, particularly in an alkaline medium, and, because of their solubility, can be easily incorporated into the soap formulations.
