An input method for an electronic device and a related input system are provided. When an optical pointer irradiates light rays with a specific pattern, photo sensors disposed in a display unit of the device detect the irradiated light rays. The device determines and generates pattern information corresponding to a pattern of the light rays, a pattern direction, and a pattern movement. The device executes or controls a function according to the pattern information and a function table, which maps the pattern information to the function.

A graphical user interface (GUI) may be displayed on a display unit in an apparatus which may include a tactile sensor unit. When a contact by a user is detected at the tactile sensor unit, a control unit may receive a contact detection signal therefrom. Based on the contact detection signal, the control unit may determine a contact pattern and may then display the GUI corresponding to the contact pattern. The GUI may be displayed and modified depending on the location and pressure of contacts by a user's manipulating fingers. Therefore, a user can manipulate the apparatus without any inconvenience or accidental touches.

A content managing method of a mobile device, a server, and a system is provided. According to the content managing method, when the mobile device enters into a specific region, the mobile device transmits location information of the location of the mobile device and device information of the mobile device to the server, and the server searches for and transmits content information corresponding to the location information to the mobile device. Accordingly, a user can receive the content information simply by entering into a specific location with the mobile device.
