摘要: Adhesive tapes, articles containing the adhesive tapes, methods of making the adhesive tapes, and uses of the adhesive tapes are described. The adhesive tape is stretch releasable and can be used to couple two substrates together. The adhesive tape can be removed easily to separate the two substrates for any reason. The adhesive tape includes a backing layer and at least one pressure sensitive adhesive layer adjacent to the backing layer. The backing layer contains a poly(alkylene) copolymer. Each pressure sensitive adhesive layer contains an acrylic copolymer that is crosslinked plus inorganic particles that are dispersed or suspended in the acrylic copolymer.

An image reception layer exists on the light shielding areas of the first major surface of the substrate. The substrate is substantially continuous. In some embodiments, the image reception layer is on the second major surface of the substrate. In some embodiments, the light transmitting areas are substantially free of the image reception layer. In certain embodiments, a light shielding coating exists on the light shielding areas between the image reception layer and the substrate.

摘要: Methods of protecting graphic substrates are disclosed. One method includes coating a hardcoat composition onto a substrate to form a hardcoat layer, curing the hardcoat layer to form a cured hardcoat layer, disposing a thermoplastic layer onto the cured hardcoat layer to form a transparent hardcoat composite film, and laminating the transparent hardcoat composite film onto a graphic substrate with heat and pressure. The thermoplastic layer softens and adheres to the graphic substrate to form a protected graphic substrate. Stain and scratch resistant cured hardcoat composite films are also disclosed.

摘要: The present invention relates to an imaged article including a substrate having a primed surface layer. The primed surface layer is included of a base polymer having a solubility parameter, molecular weight (Mw) and glass transition temperature within a specified range. The presence of the primer improves the overall image quality by improving at least one property including ink uptake, dot gain, color density and/or ink adhesion. Preferred primer compositions are soluble at least in part in the ink composition resulting in an increase in ink layer thickness that further improves the durability and/or day/night color balance. A variety of substrates may be primed including various sheeting for traffic control signage and commercial graphic films for advertising and promotional displays.

摘要: Device for indicating a critical temperature, such as, for example, the freezing point of a liquid. The device comprises a sheet which is a layer having a multiplicity of micropores therein and a mixture comprising at least two liquids, said mixture incapable of wetting said sheet at a given temperature, but capable of wetting said sheet when the temperature of said mixture reaches a critical value, such as the freezing point of one of the liquids in the mixture. The micropores, or voids, in the microporous layer cause scattering of transmitted light, causing the microporous layer to appear opaque. When the voids are filled with a liquid having substantially the same index of refraction as the material of the microporous layer, the filled voids do not scatter transmitted light, thus rendering the microporous layer transmissive to visible light.A visible indicator is associated with the layer of microporous film such that at a temperature above the freezing point of the liquid composition, the visible indicator is masked by the layer of microporous film, but at a temperature at or below the freezing point of the liquid composition, the liquid wets out the layer of microporous film, thereby allowing the visible indicator to be seen through the layer of microporous film.

摘要: The present application generally relates to multi-layer sealing films, methods of making such films, materials for inclusion in such films, retroreflective sheeting and articles including such films, and methods of making retroreflective sheeting and articles including such films. The multi-layer sealing film may include two or more layers. One exemplary embodiment of a two-layer film includes a first layer including a thermoplastic polymeric material including reaction products of alkylene and reaction products of at least one non-acidic comonomer and a second layer including one of a polyolefin, a polyester, a polymethyl methacrylate, a polyamide, a polycarbonate, an ethylene-methacrylic acid, and a polyurethane. In some embodiments, at least one of the layers of the multi-layer sealing film has an elastic modulus of at least 3.5×105 kPa and the flexural rigidity of the retroreflective article is less than about 4.0×10−8 N·m2.

摘要: The present application is directed to a method of creating a dual appearance comprising providing a substrate. The dual appearance is further created by providing an illumination source proximate to the second major surface of the substrate. A reflective image is provided on the first major surface of the substrate opposite the illumination source. A transmitted image is provided on the second major surface of the substrate between the substrate and the illumination source. Generally, the reflective image is visible with the illumination source off and the transmitted image is visible with the illumination source on.
