摘要: An orthopedic device delivers dynamic forces to a desired remote bone region. Dynamically arranged mechanical forces are known to stimulate bone cells (the process of mechanotransduction). The device includes an implantable element configured to couple with a generally accessible and healthy bone area, from which location it's configured to transmit forces to a remote bone area in need of repair, regrowth, or regeneration. Further, the device positions and orients the implantable element where it can be readily acted on by the device's force generator. The force generator is configured to impart dynamic forces that are transmitted through the implantable element and into a desired bone mass including a remote bone area in need of repair. This device promotes fracture healing, treats osteoporotic or other poor quality bone, and promotes vertebral fusion in conjunction with a spinal fusion procedure.

摘要: A temperature controlled storage facility includes a room having an enclosed structure, and a plurality of multi-level storage zones within the room. Each of the storage zones include a supply of temperature controlled air having two outlets, one outlet positioned adjacent to a top area of the storage area, and a second outlet positioned adjacent to an aisle, wherein pressure barriers are created to prevent air flow from migrating to other storage areas or to a return duct without cooling (or heating) all of the inventory in the storage zone.

摘要: A coffee product and process are provided which produce a coffee product having elevated levels of 3,7-dimetylocta-1,6-dien-3-ol. In various forms, the coffee product is dry roast and ground coffee or a dry soluble coffee product such as a powder or granule form. The process includes adding 3,7-dimethylocta-1,6-dien-3-ol to roast and ground coffee or a soluble coffee to produce an enhanced coffee flavor beverage, or to an extract or solution thereof.

摘要: Metal nanovoids are grown on a stretchable plastic film. The fabrication proceeds by assembling the template of a single layer of close packed silica spheres on a conducting substrate. A conducting layer is then electrochemically grown on top to form a master. An elastomeric precursor is then coated on the master (e.g. by spinning) and is cured before removal. The resulting plastic film is then coated with a thin (e.g. 20 nm) layer of noble metal (e.g. Au, Ag or Cu), to produce a flexible film. Applications for such tuneable structural colour would be coating of injection moulded artefacts, such as mobile phone covers, car bodies to form an iridescent skin, wall and fascia decorations, loudspeaker coatings, architectural tent coverings, and clothing.

摘要: A consumer electronics device makes content available and include a control unit and a transmitter. The control unit is able to create a representation of a human perceptual signal and instruct the transmitter to broadcast the representation. The device is able to access new content via a receiver. The control unit uses the receiver to receive representations of multiple further human perceptual signals and generate a human perceptual signal from these multiple representations.

摘要: With one known cable gripper device, when the gripper device contacts the outer surface of a submarine telecommunications cable, there is a problem of insufficient friction between the cable layers being acted on by the gripper, and/or insufficient adhesion between the cable layers along the cable from the gripper to the free end of the cable, and consequently there is a tendency for the protective outer sheath to be stripped from the core during recovery, with the result that the engaged end is lost. The cable grippers (100) of this invention are able to penetrate the outer protective layer and to grip the inner tensile strength core of cable. They may have at least one pair of co-operative gripper members (15a, 15b), the inner ends of which are profiled to together define a pre-shaped gripper for secure engagement of cable, providing an inner region to receive and retain the inner tensile strength portion
