    摘要: A light-weight electric motor driven fluid pump assembly having a molded thermoplastic housing of two parts which form a fluid impervious rotor chamber, a stationary shaft journalled in the housing parts within the chamber and carrying a magnetic rotor and a fluid impeller driven thereby. The housing parts also define inlet and discharge ports in communication with the rotor chamber adjacent the impeller blades. One portion of the housing of one housing part defines a cylindrical thin walled tubular configuration with a cylindrical exterior surface for mounting a stator thereabout. The housing parts are welded together at mating surfaces with the result that neither static nor dynamic seals are required in the assembly.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for predicting the likely timing of the onset of menopause for a perimenopausal female subject by determining the amount of hLH&bgr;cf in a sample from the subject comprising the steps of: (a) contacting a sample from the subject with an antibody which specifically binds to hLH&bgr;cf without substantially cross-reacting with hLH, hLH&bgr; or hLH&bgr;cf, under conditions permitting formation of a complex between the antibody and hLH&bgr;cf; (b) measuring the amount of complex formed, so as to thereby determine the amount of hLH&bgr;cf in the sample; and (c) comprising the amount of hLH&bgr;cf in the subject's sample determined in step (b) with either (i) the amount determined for known postmenopausal female subject or (ii) the amount determined for a sample from a known premenopausal female subject, wherein an amount of hLH&bgr;cf in the sample similar to the amount of hLH&bgr;cf in the known postmenopausal sample indicates temporal proximity to the onset of menopause, and an amount of hLH&bgr;cf in the sample similar to the amount of hLH&bgr;cf in the known premenopausal sample indicates temporal distance from the onset of menopause for the subject. AS described herein amount is both concentration and pattern of measurement of concentrations in one or more consecutive urine specimens.

    摘要: An air treatment system having a relatively large capacity yet a relatively small footprint and low sound level. The air treatment system includes a housing defining adjacent vertically extending inlet and outlet chambers. A blower is mounted within the inlet chamber to move air through the system. A generally planar filter is contained within the outlet chamber and is spaced apart from the rear wall of the housing to define a plenum. The rear wall of the housing is curved so that the plenum is tapered to provide uniform pressure over the face of the filter. The system is adapted to rest upon the floor or mount either vertically or horizontal to a wall. Additionally, the system includes a control mechanism that allows the system to run at full speed for a predetermined period of time and then automatically return to its previous speed level.
