Described herein is a two-stage reforming process using a unique configuration which allows the reforming unit to operate at a higher naphtha feed rate as compared to conventional reforming configurations. In the unique reforming process described herein, a naphtha feedstock undergoes a distillation step prior to the first reforming stage. The distillation step separates the naphtha feedstock into a top light a C7 stream, which typically accounts for between 5 and 20 percent of the overall feedstock, and a C8+ stream. The C8+ stream undergoes reforming in a first stage consisting of at least one reactor containing conventional metallic reforming catalyst, under conditions sufficient to convert the C8+ stream into a first intermediate reformate. The C7 stream, bypasses the first stage and is combined with the intermediate reformate, and reformed in the second stage, at lower pressure than in the first stage, over a reforming catalyst containing a medium pore zeolite.

The present invention is generally directed to diester-based base oils and base oil blends with improved cold flow properties and improved Noack. The diesters employed have a number a performance benefits in lubricant applications—among them: biodegradability, extreme temperature performance, oxidative stability, solubility for additives and deposit and sludge precursors, flash and fire points. However, ester usage in lubricants has been quite limited due to their high cost. We utilize new proprietary diesters, structurally different from traditional diesters, which are made from fatty acids and alpha olefins in simple processing steps, yet feature performance similar to more traditional lubricant esters.

The present invention is directed to monoester-based drilling fluid compositions and the method of drilling a borehole with said compositions. In some embodiments, the methods for making such monoester-based lubricants utilize a biomass precursor and/or low value Fischer-Tropsch (FT) olefins and/or alcohols so as to produce high value monoester-based drilling fluids. In some embodiments, such monoester-based drilling fluids are derived from FT olefins and fatty acids. The fatty acids can be from a bio-based source (i.e., biomass, renewable source) or can be derived from FT alcohols via oxidation.

Apparatuses, methods and systems of sensor sampling of a field are disclosed. One apparatus includes a magnetometer that includes a sensor responsive to an applied field. Embodiments of the sensor include an active device and oscillator circuitry, wherein the sensor generates an output signal having a frequency that is dependent on the applied field. The magnetometer further includes a bias reset controller for resetting a bias of the active device and a sampler for sampling the output signal. Further, a reset-rate of the resetting of the bias of the active device is high enough to influence 1/f noise generated by the active device.
