    摘要: The invention pertains to a coating composition comprising a first compound comprising at least one bicyclo- or spiro-orthoester group and a second compound comprising at least two hydroxyl-reactive groups. The invention also comprises a process for curing the present coating composition. More particularly, the latent hydroxyl groups of the bicyclo- or spiro-orthoester groups have to be deblocked and reacted with the hydroxyl-reactive groups of the second compound if the present coating composition is to be cured. Further, a process for making bicyclo-orthoester compounds from the corresponding oxetane compound is described, as are polymers comprising at least one bicyclo- or spiro-orthoester group.

    摘要: The aqueous-based cross-linkable binder composition comprising (A) an aqueous dispersion of an aldehyde-functional polyurethane having a number average molecular weight of more than 1,000 and an average aldehyde functionality of ≧2, which polyurethane comprises ionic and/or non-ionic dispersing groups, and (B) a low-molecular weight aldehyde-reactive cross-linker selected from the group of low-molecular weight polyamines and low-molecular weight compounds comprising at least one group of one of the formulae E1—CHR1—E2 and H—C—(E1E2E3), wherein —E1, —E2 and —E3 are independently chosen from electron-withdrawing groups such as —P(═O)—O—, —CO—, —CN, —SO2—, —NO2 and wherein R1 has the meaning of hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 10 carbon atoms. Preference is given to a coating composition wherein the ionic dispersing group is an anionic dispersing group selected from the group of carboxylate, sulphonate and/or phosph(on)ate salt groups, and/or wherein for the nonionic dispersing group use is made of a C1-C4 alkoxy poly C2-C3 alkylene-oxide group in an amount between 2.5 and 20 wt. %, based on the polyurethane.

The coating composition of the current invention can be formulated to a coating composition having a low content of volatile organic solvents, is curable at a temperature as low as 5° C., and the cured coating composition of the current invention is essentially free of unreacted low-molecular weight blocking agents. Further, the pot life: drying time ratio of coating compositions according to the invention is particularly favorable.

    摘要: Proposed is a thermosetting powder coating composition comprising a mixture of particles reactive towards one another, optionally in combination with a catalyst, with a portion of the reactive particles comprising a polymer reactive towards oxetane groups while another portion comprises an oxetane groups-containing cross-linking agent having an oxetane functionality of more than 1. The quantity of oxetane oxygen in the cross-linking agent preferably is at least 0.4 wt. %. The reactive polymer preferably is a polymer having groups reactive towards oxetane, such as carboxyl, epoxy, oxetane, anhydride, and hydroxyl, with preference being given to a polyester or a hydroxypolyacrylate.
