EXAMPLES OF SUCH SOLIDS INCLUDE SILICON CARBIDE, FERROSILICON, SILICON, AND THE LIKE. THE BED IS PREFERABLY FLUIDIZED, AND IS MAINTAINED AT A TEMPERATURE OF THE ORDER OF AT LEAST 1000*C.
