Abstract:
An actuator arm assembly of a disk drive is stamped from a single flat sheet of material and includes first and second actuator arm portions and one or more bendable portions integrally joining the first and second actuator arm portions. A method of making an actuator arm assembly for a disk drive includes steps of providing a flat sheet of material and stamping an actuator arm assembly from the sheet such that the stamped actuator arm assembly includes first and second actuator arm portions and one or more bendable portions integrally joining the first and second actuator arm portions.

The first inner race is attached to the pivot shaft. The pivot bearing cartridge is provided with an outer ball bearing set surrounding the inner ball bearing set. The outer ball bearing set has a second inner race and a second outer race. The second inner race is fixed relative to the first outer race.
Abstract:
An apparatus for rotatably journaling a rotor of a spindle motor about a stator comprising a plurality of magnetic bearings for use in a disc drive including an annular ring single-pole magnet which is integral with the spindle permanent magnet of a spindle motor rotor assembly and disposed in opposition to a complementary annular magnet ring attached to the stator assembly of the spindle motor. These magnetic bearings in conjunction with an axial pivot form a radially stable bearing system for maintaining rotor displacement about the stator in conjunction with a conventional axial pivot. The present invention provides for the unique combination of magnetic bearings with other conventional pivots for use in disc drive systems.
Abstract:
An apparatus for rotatably journaling a rotor of a spindle motor about a shaft comprising a plurality of annular ring multi-pole magnets, each ring comprised of a plurality of axially aligned magnets whose polarity is alternated along the radius of the ring. The annular ring multi-pole magnets are disposed on both the rotor and stator of a spindle motor in opposition in attraction mode, or a complete offset repulsion mode with like poles facing one another with an full offset, thereby forming a radially stable magnetic bearing for maintaining rotor displacement about a shaft in conjunction with a conventional axial pivot.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to a disk drive coupler for reducing particulates in a disk drive. In some embodiments, the disk drive includes a first component having a top surface and a bottom surface, the first component defining an aperture with an interior surface between the top surface and the bottom surface, and a channel on at least one of the top surface, the bottom surface, and the interior surface. In some embodiments, the disk drive coupler includes a fastener configured to be received within the aperture and is configured to secure the first component to a second component. The channel is configured to permit the drawing of air from at least one of the aperture, the top surface, and the bottom surface of the first component before and after the fastener secures the first component to the second component.
