An inner member having a supply port is installed at the inside of a housing, wherein the housing and the inner member are connected together by connecting bolts. Air is supplied to the supply port of the inner member and is directed and introduced through communication passages into an annular passage. Thereafter, the air is directed outwardly from a plurality of lead-out holes, which communicate with the annular passage, in a swirling direction with respect to an annular recess facing the workpiece. In addition, by having the air flow along the annular recess, which is formed with a substantially trapezoidal shape in cross section, the workpiece is maintained in a non-contact state with respect to a holding surface of the inner member.

In a synchronous machine, an armature structure has n (n being a positive integer) salient poles provided at predetermined circumferential distances around a rotary shaft and coils wound on the salient poles respectively, and a field system is constituted by (n-1) permanent magnet pieces arranged like a ring as a whole around the rotary shaft closely to radially outer ends of the salient poles of the armature structure, the respective permanent magnet pieces being magnetized radially so that north and south poles are alternately arranged respectively on inner circumferential surfaces of the permanent magnet pieces, and each of boundary lines between adjacent ones of the permanent magnet pieces is inclined at a predetermined angle relative to a direction parallel to the rotary shaft in such a manner that when the radially outer ends of the salient poles opposite to the inner circumferential surfaces of the permanent magnet pieces are circumferentially developed and projected onto a development where the inner circumferential surfaces of the permanent magnet pieces are circumferentially developed and when a certain one of the boundary lines comes between two of the salient poles adjacent to each other, the one boundary line passes at the same time two diagonally opposite apexes of projected rectangles corresponding to the radially outer ends of the two salient poles adjacent to each other.

A process for fabricating thin multi-layer circuit boards which allow the electrical conduction of remodeling pads to be easily cut do not use etching for gold, avoid the lift-off method for forming a thin chromium film on the wiring pattern layer, allow a defective wiring pattern layer to be removed, and which uses uniform heating of the substrate, from the back side thereof, at the time of pre-baking. A barrier metal (60) is excluded from a portion where the electrical conduction of a remodeling pad (62b) is to be cut (FIGS. 1 to 16). Alternatively, gold-plating resist is formed in order to avoid the etching for gold (FIGS. 17 to 19). Alternatively, a thin chromium film is formed in advance by etching on the wiring pattern layer (FIGS. 27 to 33). Alternatively, a metallic barrier film (122) is formed on each of the wiring pattern layers so that the wiring pattern layer can be removed without affecting other wiring pattern layers (FIGS. 36 to 42). To the end of allowing an image makeup process to be easily and efficiently carried out even when different image makeup functions are to be applied to different regions of a single original image without requiring a plurality of region designating sheets, a region designating sheet Sw carrying region designating images is photoelectrically read, the region designating images of the region designating sheet Sw are displayed on a display unit, region designating data for specifying the regions to which image makeup functions are to be applied is obtained through a specifying process conducted on the region designating images displayed on the display unit by using a touch panel, available image makeup functions for each of the regions specified by this specifying process are displayed on the display unit, and the image makeup functions are applied to the designated regions by obtaining image makeup function designating data through a specifying process conducted on the list of image makeup functions displayed on the display unit by using the touch panel.

In an integrated services digital network (ISDN), a caller number indicative of the telephone number of a caller can be usually attached in a call data. In a private branch exchange according to the present invention, the caller number of a caller and the extension number or numbers of an extension telephone set or sets to which the call is desired to be directly sent from the caller are previously registered in a suitable memory table in a predetermined correlation, so that when the private branch exchange receives a call from the ISDN, it retrieves the table to check whether or not the received call is previously registered in the table in the form of a caller number. When the call is registered one, the call is preferentially allocated to one or ones of the extension telephone sets having one or ones of the extension numbers associated with the caller number of the received call. The number registration in the table may be carried out through each of the extension telephone sets.

A small-sized, low cost to manufacture and use wastewater treating biological film tank by which wastewater produced in a single home can be treated in each home. A treating tank has arranged therein multi continuous-pore soft ceramic biological film elements. Waste or raw water is supplied into the tank through a waste/raw water supply pipe arranged in the top of the tank, pushed up through a cylindrical guide by the action of air bubbles forced into the tank through an air bubble generator arranged in the bottom of the tank, and then forced to flow over the cylindrical guide into and through the multi continuous-pore soft ceramic biological film elements wherein the water is purified by microorganisms which digest the nutrients in the waste or raw water. The surface area of each multi continuous-pore ceramic biological film element is about 25 times larger than the surface area of a conventional plastic biological film element.

There are disclosed automatic telephone dialing method and apparatus that can be commonly used in a plurality of countries for telephone-related devices such as telephone sets. According to the automatic telephone dialing method, control data for controlling various signals to be delivered to a circuit for placing a call are stored in a storage unit, and the signals are issued while their timing is controlled by the control data stored in the storage unit at the time of initiating a call. The automatic telephone dialing apparatus is composed of a storage unit for storing control data for controlling the timing of signals to be delivered to a circuit in initiating a call, an input unit for entering an address, a dialing signal issuing unit for issuing a dialing signal to the circuit, and a control unit for controlling the timing of delivery of the dialing signal according to the control data stored in the storage unit when issuing the dialing signal to the circuit through the dialing signal issuing unit and also for controlling the storage unit, the input unit, and the dialing signal issuing unit.

A fuel supply cut control device comprising an electronic control unit for controlling the injecting operation of a fuel injector. When the throttle valve is closed to the idling position under an operating state where the engine speed is higher than the cut speed, the fuel injection of the fuel injector is stopped. After this, when the engine speed is reduced below the resume speed, the injecting operation of the fuel injector is started. When the vehicle speed is high, the cut speed and the resume speed are low, and when the vehicle speed is low, the cut speed and the resume speed are high.
