    摘要: A silencer for a CPAP device comprises a housing assembly defining a flow path passing therethrough and including at least one of an inlet chamber, an acoustic chamber and a blower chamber. Each of the chambers has an inlet and an outlet for fluid communication therebetween. The silencer includes a combination of reactive components, resonators and dissipative elements disposed within the inlet, acoustic and blower chambers. The reactive component may be configured as a compliant-walled reactive tube. The resonator may be configured as a perforated plate defining a cavity volume. The dissipative element may comprise porous material substantially occupying the cavity volume bounded by the perforated plate in the chamber walls.

The CPAP device comprises a portable housing assembly, a motor blower unit disposable within the portable housing assembly, a user interface configured to be engaged to the patient, and a patient hose extending between the user interface and the motor blower unit. The portable housing assembly may be comprised or configured as a wearable frontpack assembly which is configured to be worn against the patient's chest. The frontpack assembly may include a pair of shoulder straps configured to extend over the patient's shoulders and under the patient's arms to secure the CPAP device to the patient. The motor blower unit may be remotely disposed from the portable housing assembly such as on a bedside assembly or on a tabletop stand.

    摘要: A heat suppressor for a gas turbine engine is mounted on an aircraft by means separate from the engine mounts. A sleeve apparatus is needed to connect the exhaust duct of the engine to the suppressor duct for continuous flow of turbine gases. The sleeve apparatus is in the form of a bellows to absorb bending forces created by flexing of the air frame. This invention provides a unique connecting assembly to connect the bellows to the engine. The assembly consists of an annular socket fixed to the bellows and constructed to receive a radially extending flange on a connecting shroud fixed to the engine. The flange and socket are slidably engaged to allow twisting movement between the bellows and the engine, while the bellows allows relative displacement of the axes of the connecting passages.

    摘要: An impeller and at least a portion of a cooperating peripheral volute may be integrated into, and preferably are integrally injection molded with, concentric outer rotor and inner stator assemblies, respectively, to achieve a low profile precision impeller mechanism based on an improved brushless d.c. motor with low length (L) to diameter (D) ratio and suitable for use in a variety of other applications. In one practical embodiment of such a motor, a rotating cap has an inner circumference which is molded about an outer ferromagnetic back ring that in turn supports a permanently magnetized ring shaped rotor magnet having a number of poles of alternating polarity defined about its inner circumference and separated by a relatively small cylindrical air gap from the outwardly projecting radially oriented selectively magnetized poles of a fixed stator assembly. In one exemplary embodiment, the rotor may have 8 poles and the stator may have 9 poles. The fixed stator assembly is preferably integrally molded into a base housing that also includes a precision fixed bearing support that extends upwardly through the center of the stator assembly and that is rotatably coupled to a rotating shaft that extends downwardly from (and preferably is integral with) the center of the rotating cap. A coaxial pair of preloaded ball bearings is preferably supported between an inner cylindrical surface of the fixed bearing support and an outer cylindrical surface of the rotating shaft, to thereby permit the rotor to rotate precisely about the stator with minimal variation in the cylindrical air gap therebetween.

The stator assembly includes a stator bore having a rotor magnet rotatable therewithin such that the motor assembly is configured as a brushless D.C. motor. An impeller is mounted on a motor shaft of the motor assembly and has a plurality of vanes extending upwardly therefrom. Each one of the vanes has a vane height which is optimized to minimize the formation of fluid eddy losses during compression of air by the impeller. A bearing assembly rotatably coupling the rotor magnet to the stator assembly is sized and configured to maintain an air gap of approximately 0.0002 inches between the vanes and a housing interior surface of the blower housing during rotation of the impeller.

    摘要: The present invention is a brushless electric motor that can be used in high performance applications, such as model airplanes. The rotor assembly, which includes the rotor shaft, encloses a winding core, which is part of a fixed stator assembly. Conducting wire in the armature portion of the stator assembly is wrapped around a set of spokes, extending radially from an inner hub. The spokes are formed from a stack of flat metal laminations, the laminations oriented perpendicular to the rotation axis. The spokes are wrapped with a single layer of copper wire, which is connected to the energy source when the motor is operational. These spokes are long relative to the diameter of the inner hub, leaving V-shaped slots through the winding core. Openings in both end bells allow air to freely flow into the core, cooling the single layer of conducting wire. Using a wedge to force the wire against the spokes during varnishing results in close contact between the wire and the conducting material in the winding core. When the motor is operational, this contact causes the winding core to act as a heat sink, allowing a relatively heavy motor to sustain high power without damage.
