The invention relates to a pneumatic rubber tire with an outer, circumferential tread wherein said tread has a tread configuration comprised of spaced apart, raised lugs designed to be shock absorbingly ground contacting, wherein said tread and lugs are comprised of rubber selected from butyl rubber, halobutyl rubber or isobutylene-derived rubber. Said tire may also contain sidewalls comprised of one or more of such rubber. Thus, such tread is a combination of specific structural configuration and specific rubber composition to create a shock absorbing effect.

Disclosed is the use of a brominated polymer derived from isobutylene and p-methylstyrene monomers to decrease the spider flow of various rubber components used in the carcass of an uncured pneumatic tire. The amount of the brominated polymer utilized is in a range of about 3 to about 15 phr. The various components include the ply coat, wire coat, tread cushion, belt-edge gumstrip, apex, chipper, and barrier.

A pneumatic aircraft tire has carcass plies and/or breaker plies which are reinforced by high modulus reinforcement cords embedded in a rubber composition that contains no free amines and has a 300% modulus of 12-18 MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 23 MPa as tested per ASTM D412, and a T90 of between 30 and 40 minutes at a reference temperature of 135 degrees C. as tested per ASTM D2084. The cords in the carcass plies and/or breaker plies have a tenacity of 6.6 to 8.2 g/denier, an initial modulus of 120 to 280 g/denier, an elongation at break of 8 to 18% and a shrinkage of not greater than 3%. Polyester reinforcement cords are preferred.

This invention relates to a heavy duty tire (e.g. heavy duty truck tire) designed for a load bearing capacity of at least 4,000 pounds (1814 kg) with a tread of a cap/base construction with at least one underlying silica-rich, cis 1,4-polyisoprene rubber based intermediate transition rubber layer to promote a reduced internal heat generation for the heavy duty tire and to therefore promote a load carrying heavy duty tire which is more durable for the long haul. Such heavy duty tire tread is intended for use with heavy loads in which internal heat is expected to be generated within the tire, including the tire tread, during use.
