Abstract:
A photovoltaic receiver comprising an elongated structure bearing a plurality of photovoltaic cells. Said structure carries a plurality of finned dissipators, mounted on which are said photovoltaic cells, and ventilating means, designed to convey a flow of cooling air towards said dissipators.
Abstract:
A safety barrier for road use comprises a barrier element (5) which can be displaced between an operative position, above the road surface, and an inoperative position, in which it does not substantially project above the road surface. Preferably provided is a number of sets of aligned barrier elements, rigidly connected to one another, the adjacent sets being connected together by articulated connecting structures (18) which enable one set of barrier elements (5) to be displaced between its inoperative position and its operative position without modifying the positions of the adjacent sets. In this way, one or more stretches of the barrier can be brought into the inoperative condition, leaving the adjacent stretches of barrier in the normal operative condition. The invention is particularly, although not exclusively, suited for the construction of traffic-divider barriers in road tunnels where it is necessary to eliminate the barrier rapidly in the event of an accident occurring.
Abstract:
Starting from a sequence of values of indicated torque detected for each expected combustion in the engine a cycle signal is generated as a combination of at least two successive values of the said sequence. The peak value of the said cycle signal is then compared with a comparison threshold chosen preferably in proportion of the fuel injection duration into the cylinders. Misfires are identified preferably from the result of a comparison between the said peak value and the said comparison threshold which differs from the result of comparison in the presence of regular operation of the engine.
Abstract:
The device comprises a heat-sensitive element which is heated to a controllable extent so as to keep it at a predetermined temperature, for example, average body temperature. Detector means measure the power or energy required to keep the heat-sensitive element at this predetermined temperature, thus providing a signal indicative of the thermal comfort conditions of the environment. The heat-sensitive element has a general elongated shape so that it can be inserted, for example, into a motor vehicle safety belt, ensuring that the indication obtained indicates the general thermal comfort conditions throughout the entire region of the environment in which the heat-sensitive element extends.
Abstract:
The sensor unit consists of a scale model of the vehicle mounted on the roof of the vehicle itself. The sensor unit measures the amount of energy exchange necessary to obtain the desired air-conditioning in its interior environment and generates a signal, which is of a predictive nature, indicating the amount of energy exchange necessary to obtain the corresponding air-conditioning in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Abstract:
An air heating system comprises a duct housing an air-cooled internal combustion engine which drives a fan to cause air to be drawn in through an inlet mouth of the duct and blown through the duct to a utilizer. The exhaust gases from the engine are fed as heating fluid to a heat exchanger through which they pass in a helical path concentric with the axis of the duct. Pre-heating of the air drawn into the duct can be achieved by providing a second heat exchanger through which air must flow before entering the duct inlet. The heating fluid for the second heat exchanger comprises a mixture of the used air from the utilizer and the exhaust gases leaving the main heat exchanger in the duct.
Abstract:
A tyre (3) for vehicles, which does not require pressurisation by means of a pressurised fluid, has a tread (16), two sidewalls (15), and two beads (8) attached to a wheel rim (2) and made of elastomer material; the tyre is provided with at least one tubular reinforcement body (18) which is associated with the tread; each of the sidewalls have a respective homogeneous resilient annular membrane (24).
Abstract:
A system for monitoring a state of operation of a photovoltaic panel. The system comprises a transponder for connection to the panel, wherein, when the panel is in a first state of operation, the transponder transmits an individual identifier code in response to a pre-determined received signal and wherein, when the panel is in a second state of operation, the transponder does not transmit the individual identifier code.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an electromagnetic actuator which is provided with an electromagnet and a movable core which can be attracted by the electromagnet. The electromagnet is formed by a small plate having on its front surface facing the core a plurality of grooves in which are housed respective substantially rectilinear conductor elements. The conductor elements are electrically connected together in such a way as to define on the surface a plurality of elementary magnets disposed alongside one another and having alternately opposite polarity.
Abstract:
An electrical distribution system suitable for use on motor vehicles where electric current is to be supplied selectively to one or more electric power consuming devices, wherein there is provided a main power carrying conductor and a plurality of signal carrying lines which energize one or more of a plurality of actuators to interconnect the power line to a selected electrical device, in which the power line is in the form of a metal strip of sufficient rigidity that the actuators can be mounted thereon by a mounting which also makes electrical contact thereto.
