摘要: A dental amalgam mixing capsule including an inner capsule housed in an outer capsule. The inner capsule includes an elongated pestle telescopically extended into an open ended cap including a resilient, annular skirt formed with an annular sealing lip sized for frictional, gripping engagement with the pestle to define a storage chamber therebetween for storing a liquid component of the amalgam. The inner capsule may be made by subjecting the cap to a partial vacuum, inserting a charge of such liquid component therein, and registering one end of such pestle in sealing engagement with such sealing lip. Thus, when the assembly is returned to atmospheric pressure, the partial vacuum trapped in the cap will provide for a pressure differential across the pestle drawing it into the cap to fill the space therein.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a method of preparing a substrate to improve the adherence of a metallic coating to the substrate and the product thereof. More particularly, a method of manufactiring a molded circuit board and unique circuit board produced thereby, is disclosed. A molding compound, such as an epoxy resin is blended with a plating additive, such as calcium carbonate that is relatively inert to the molding compound. The blended mix can then be molded into a desired shape which, for a printed circuit board, can be a relatively flat plate configuration with a recessed groove and hole formation pattern. The high relief areas of the circuit board can be masked with a protective material. The plating additive can then be chemically etched from the grooved recessed area and holes, for example, by a hydrochloric acid bath. Appropriate catalyst and accelerators can be applied to the recessed groove pattern before the protective mask material is removed. In one embodiment, an electroless plating nickel material can be deposited to permit it to penetrate the interstices or cavity pattern, left in the recessed groove and hole pattern by the etching of the plating additive. Copper can then be applied to the nickel pattern in the recessed grooves, for example, by dipping the substrate in an electroless plating copper solution. The substrate is heated to cure the epoxy resin for mechanically locking the metallic coating in the interstices, or cavities, left by the etching of the plating additive.

摘要: A multifunction machine user interface has a minimal number user inputs, such as only one or two buttons. When a user places a media item, such as a printed sheet, in the scanner and activates a first user input, the machine scans the media item and assesses or determines whether the media item is to be treated for printing purposes as a color document, a color photograph, a monochrome (i.e., black-and-white) document, or a monochrome photograph. The machine then causes the media item to be printed in accordance with that assessment or determination. The assessment or determination can be made automatically by the machine or a host computer in communication with the machine in response to an evaluation of chrominance and luminance of the scanned pixels. Alternatively, the determination can be made by the user selecting corresponding settings through a user interface on the host computer.

摘要: A compartmentalized dental amalgam mixing capsule including an upstanding elongated receptacle having a cylindrical interior chamber for receipt of an alloy therein. The receptacle is formed with an annular flange in the upper portion of the chamber including a central opening and formed with at least one lock pin projecting laterally outwardly from the receptacle. A rupturable pillow containing mercury therein is configured to overlie the flange. An elongated cylindrical cap formed with a closed top end, an open bottom end, and includes a piston device carried from the top end projecting axially downwardly therefrom to terminate in a hammer end configured to overlie the pillow. The cap is further formed with an elongated groove slidably receiving the lock pin and angling axially upwardly in one circumferential direction. The cap is telescopically received over the open end of the receptacle so that rotation of the cap in the direction opposite the one direction will draw the cap axially from a first position to a second position. As the cap is rotated, it is shifted from the first to the second position to drive the hammer end thereof downwardly toward the flange a distance sufficient to rupture the pillow and introduce the mercury through the central opening in the flange into the chamber for mixing with the alloy.

摘要: Method of forming an electrode for imprinting or imaging a circuit board mold face includes covering a graphite substrate with a photoresist material. The photoresist material is appropriately exposed to develop a desired pattern. The unpolymerized photoresist is removed from the graphite substrate to leave the desired pattern of an exposed graphite surface. The graphite substrate is then impacted by a dry air blast of glass beads having a size in the range of approximately 200 to 325 mesh. The glass beads will remove a desired amount of graphite to thereby cut the desired pattern into the substrate but will not remove the photoresist or affect the substrate beneath the polymerized photoresist. The polymerized photoresist is removed with materials that will not interfere with the subsequent machining process. The resultant cut graphite substrate can be utilized as a electrode in an electrical discharge machining process to form a desired pattern in a mold face.
