The reporter systems comprise a reporter gene in antisense orientation, flanked by the complements of 5′ and 3′ viral genome ends, such that exposure to an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase results in the generation of mRNA encoding an active reporter protein. Such systems may be used, for example, to detect active RNA virus and to monitor RNA virus therapies.
