Abstract:
An autostereoscopic display device includes a reflection layer for reflecting at least a portion of incident light, a polarization conversion layer arranged over the reflection layer, and an array of lenticular elements arranged over at least a portion of the polarization conversion layer and including a birefringent material. Light having a first state of polarization is configured to pass through the lenticular element array without substantial lenticular element focusing, where the polarization state is transformed by the polarization conversion layer such that the reflected light has a second state of polarization. Light having the second polarization state passes through the lenticular element array with the lenticular element focusing to provide multiple views to different viewing locations.
Abstract:
To achieve a shortening of the initial synchronization time and/or extension of the stand-by time with a method of connecting an UMTS mobile radio to a network, the UMTS mobile radio receives and stored in one or more time-limited RF receive windows the signals that are subsequently evaluated when the HF receiver is switched off.
Abstract:
Configurable vector processors can be equipped with code generators, so that they are capable of handling different standards and codes. Furthermore, they can be arranged to provide support for related functions such as cyclic redundancy check (CRC). A configurable vector processor would then be equipped with a plurality of generators which generate basic codes in vector format. However, a disadvantage of such a configurable vector processor is that it cannot provide a composite code which is dependent on such basic codes. This is necessary if the configurable vector processors should be flexible enough to support a variety of CDMA-like standards. The device according to the invention is provided with at least two weighted sum units, which are able to make a selection out of a plurality of incoming basic-code vectors by means of a weighted sum operation, under the control of a configuration word. The elements of this configuration word represent the weighting factors which are used to select or deselect a basic-code vector. The selected basic-code vectors are added together and the result of the weighted sum operation is then output as an intermediate-code vector. Subsequently, the intermediate-code vectors are added together by an add unit and output as a composite-code vector. The ability to make selections out of a plurality of incoming basic-code vectors and to add intermediate-code vectors into a composite-code vector, together with the ability to configure the operations of the functional units of the device by means of configuration words, increases the flexibility of the device significantly. This flexibility is needed to support a variety of transmission standards.

Mean Pulmonary Arterial Pressure (MPAP), Mean Pulmonary Capillary Wedge Pressure (MPCWP) and Cardiac Index are all determinable (in a method or employing apparatus) from Central Venous Pressure (CVP), Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP), Heart Rate (HR), and Core Body Temperature (T) from the following relationships: MPAP=(a×MAP)+CVP (for MAP 58); Vb; MPCWP=(b×MPAP)+CVP−(10×INT [CVP−7/10]; and VI; CI=K (T.CVP)/HR2, VII; where a and b are about 0.15; MAX (x, y, z)=largest of the three terms x, y, and z; INT [x]=integer part of x; MAP and CVP is measured in mmHg; T in Celsius and HR in counts per minute; CI is liters per square meter per minute; and K is a variable constant whose value is between 0 and 1000 depending on the values of CVP and HR.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for depositing a coating on a substrate. A method of coating a substrate comprises evaporating a first reactant; introducing the evaporated reactant into a plasma; and depositing the first reactant on a surface of the substrate. This method may be used to deposit an electrically conductive, ultraviolet filter coating at high rate on a glass or polycarbonate substrate, for example. An apparatus for depositing a UV filter coating on a polymeric substrate comprises a plasma generator having an anode and a cathode to form a plasma, and a first inlet for introducing a first reactant into the plasma, the first reactant comprising an evaporated material that is deposited on the substrate by the plasma. Optionally, a nozzle can be utilized to provide a controlled delivery of the first reactant into the plasma.

A method of operating a drive-train of a hybrid vehicle which comprises at least a hybrid drive with an internal combustion engine and an electric machine, an automatic or automated change-speed transmission connected between the hybrid drive and a drive output, and a clutch connected between the internal combustion engine and the electric machine. When starting the internal combustion engine from a purely electric driving mode, the clutch is initially disengaged. To start the internal combustion engine, the clutch is at least partially engaged and the internal combustion engine is drag-started by the electric machine, and, in parallel with starting the internal combustion engine, a downshift in the transmission is initiated once a rotational speed of the internal combustion engine reaches or exceeds an applicable threshold value.

A scalar/vector processor includes a plurality of functional units (252, 260, 262, 264, 266, 268, 270). At least one of the functional units includes a vector section (210) for operating on at least one vector and a scalar section (220) for operating on at least one scalar. The vector section and scalar section of the functional unit co-operate by the scalar section being arranged to provide and/or consume at least one scalar required by and/or supplied by the vector section of the functional unit.
Abstract:
A low-EMI switched circuit comprises two or more switches, wherein impedance transitions of the switches are overlapped and the overlap is varied using variable switch timing based on an output power level of the switched circuit. The variable timing results in a variable impedance overlap between the switches. In one example, when one switch turns off (begins a low to high impedance transition) and a second switch turns on (begins a high to low impedance transition), a greater timing delay in beginning the second switch's transition results in a higher switch impedance overlap than a shorter delay does. If the variable timing is based on output power of the switched circuit, the variable delay can operate to reduce fly-back voltages at high power output levels and reduce shoot-through current at lower power levels, reducing EMI and quiescent current of the switched circuit.
