摘要: An adaptor assembly for a motor permits mounting to a pump to form a sump pump unit. A motor main frame has its end by end bearing frames. The adaptor assembly includes top and bottom plate adaptors formed of cast plastic or aluminum, and are separately inventoried for connection to a line of motors built for other applications as well as sump pumps. The bottom adaptor plate is secured to the end frame, with the motor shaft projecting concentrically of a hub extending from the plate. The hub telescopes over a tubular pedestal of the pump and has a collapsing collar for mounting the motor to the pump with the pump shaft and motor shaft coupled by a mating slot and projection. The plate is secured to the motor by suitable edge securement clips or by self tapping screws passing through a plate opening and threaded into a hole in the end frame. A top adaptor unit has a plate similarly secured to the top end of said motor. A tubular skirt extends from the top plate over the motor frame with a flared skirt aligned with cooling openings in the main frame. A relay housing is integrally formed to the exterior side of said top adaptor plate and connects to a releasably covered terminal board opening. A current sensitive relay in the housing is connected in circuit to respond to current in the motor winding in response to a "run" current flow and open contacts in circuit to a start winding of the motor winding.

摘要: A motor includes a round tubular steel frame with a stator unit fixedly mounted therein and spaced from the frame ends. Spaced bearing frames are secured within the round frame and support a rotor unit within the stator unit and in the bearing frames. One or both bearing frames are spaced from the round frame ends, and define corresponding auxiliary compartments. In a motor pump unit, an end plate closes one end and defines a control compartment. The pump housing closes the opposite end and forms a fan and drip compartment within the round frame. The round frame has openings in the drip compartment to by-pass pump water leakage from the motor compartment. A fan in the fan compartment provides motor cooling. Motor controls such as power connectors, a centrifugal start switch unit, electronic timers, and the like are mounted within the control compartment to form a self-contained motor. The motor compartment and various auxiliary compartments can be formed within the frame by appropriate securing of the bearing frames and internal walls in the round frame. Thus, two and three compartment modular motor are formed with one or more internal wall structures secured directly to the round motor frame.

摘要: A flexible vibration dampening mounting assembly for supporting an electric motor within a blower housing. The flexible mounting is normally provided as part of the electric motor and consists of a plurality of circumferentially spaced hardened steel mounting arms which are joined to the motor main frame by a hinge connection which permits attachment of the hardened steel mounting arms to the hinge pins previously welded to the main frame and thus eliminates the possibility of embrittlement of the mounting arms due to heat generated during welding operations.

摘要: A rotary motor includes bearing frames fixedly secured with a main round frame. The stator unit is secured directly to the round frame. The bearing frames are shallow cup-shaped metal members having an outer cylindrical flange extending as a continuous member about the circumference of a flat end wall structure. The flange is specially constructed to have a maximum diameter slightly greater than the internal diameter of the round frame, and is pressed into the round frame with the frame located on a precise radial plane through the round frame. A rotary bearing is secured within the end frame for rotatably supporting a rotor unit. The bearing frame is preferably a stamped steel member with the flange having a plurality of small radial projections. The bearing frame is pressed into the round frame using a suitable hydraulic press. The end edge of the round frame is formed as a reference for locating of the bearing frame in the round frame. The pressed frame is welded to the main frame at the projections by resistance welding.

摘要: End play control construction to regulate the end play of a shaft of an electric motor between an end bearing and the rotor secured to said shaft, which comprises a bushing secured to the shaft adjacent the rotor and having an annular outwardly facing slot, a thrust collar slip fitted on the shaft and having an annular projection axially aligned with the slot in the bushing and disposed in final position in mashed engagement with the bushing by an ultrasonic horn under controlled conditions with an ultrasonic weld joining the bushing and thrust collar together to thereby space the assembled bushing and collar from the bearing of the order of 0.003 to 0.018 inches to establish a minimal amount of end play of the shaft. In a second embodiment of the invention the annular slot is in the thrust collar and is disposed in axial alignment with the annular projection in the bushing.

摘要: A frameless motor includes a laminated annular stator core having an internal bore and a winding projecting from the ends. The bore is enlarged in the end laminations with an annular diameter precisely defining the bearing axis. Cup-shaped bearing supports have precisely formed ends complementing the enlarged bore with an axially spaced bearing wall. the rotor is supported in the bearing supports to support and align the rotor with an air gap to create a complete and framelss dynamoelectric machine which can subsequently be assembled to any suitable support or housing. A cup-shaped cylindrical housing with the outer end machined to a stepped recess has an internal diameter substantially corresponding to the inner bore of the stator core and an outer nominal diameter complementing the internal enlarged bore. Alternatively, the cup-shaped bearing support is formed with a cylindrical housing having an end flange which is precisely machined to the bearing opening and the enlarged bore.

摘要: A motor includes an enclosed rotor unit closely fitted and secured to a stator core unit and having extended integrated bearing units therein for rotatably supporting of the rotor unit and forming a self-contained frameless motor. The motor unit is rotatably mounted in an outer thin wall tube. The ends of the tube member are closed by bearing members having appropriate annular rotary bearings secured therein with the rotor shaft journaled in the bearings to define a frameless motor. The thin metal is formed of non-magnetic metal and has an outside diameter slightly greater than the inside diameter of the stator core. The tube is press fitted into the stator bore and forms the sole support for the metal tube. The tube is longer than the stator and rotor cores with the bearing end plate secured within each end of the metal tubes. In assembly, the rotor unit with the end bearing plates coupled to the rotor shaft can be preassembled and assembled into the metal tube and press fitted as a unit into the stator core. Alternately, the assembly can be press fitted in place with securement of the end plates and rotor unit with the tube before or after the press fitting.
