Abstract:
The present invention relates to a set of tools and accessories used for properly positioning a stemmed humeral component, and/or a humeral stem provisional, within a canal in the humerus. The set of tools and accessories includes one or more fin clamps that are configured to be temporarily attached to a fin on the humeral component or the provisional; a ruler that is configured to be attached to the arm of the fin clamp, a fixation pin and pin driver configured to be used with the other tools for marking a position on the humerus; and one or more sleeves that are configured to slide over the stem of the humeral stem provisional to maintain it in the desired position.
Abstract:
A blade plate, as well as instruments and methods for securing the blade plate to a bone to reduce a bone fracture. The blade plate includes a plate portion and a blade portion extending at an angle relative to the plate portion. The plate portion includes a plurality of holes for receipt of bone screws for securing the blade plate to the bone about the bone fracture. A strut screw, inserted through a hole in the plate portion, spans the angle between the plate and blade portions, and threadingly engages a hole in the blade portion to slightly draw the plate and blade portions together to compress and support the bone fracture. A pair of top screws are inserted through holes in the plate portion at angles with respect to the strut screw on either side of the strut screw. Additionally, the blade plate is designed to closely conform to the surface of the bone to minimize the gap between the bone and the blade plate. In order to secure the blade plate to a bone, a chisel/drill guide, chisel, insertion guide, and screw drill guides are provided.
Abstract:
An implant system for total shoulder arthroplasties, hemi shoulder arthroplasties, and “reverse” total shoulder arthroplasties including a humeral stem having an enlarged head portion with interfaces adapted to removably receive various modular interchangeable components, such as articulating liners, spacers, and adapter inserts. The humeral stem functions as a universal platform that may be used in either conventional or “reverse” total shoulder arthroplasties, as well as hemi shoulder arthroplasties, and may remain implanted in place during a revision in which the implant system is converted between the foregoing configurations, for example.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for facilitating shoulder arthroplasty by providing a reference to establish version of the glenoid. In one form of the invention, a guide for positioning a guide pin to facilitate implantation of a glenoid prosthesis is provided. To properly position the guide pin, the guide is first oriented with respect to the scapula. A portion of the guide is positioned over the approximate center of the glenoid surface and another portion of the guide is positioned against the anterior surface of the scapula. After the guide is properly positioned, the guide pin is inserted through an aperture in the guide and anchored in the glenoid. Thereafter, the guide pin can serve as an alignment guide for other devices used to modify the glenoid surface. For example, a reamer having a cannulated central shaft can be placed over the guide pin and utilized to resurface the glenoid.
Abstract:
A version adjustment instrument is utilized with modular femoral components, including a modular stem component having a coronal slot and/or a bowed portion and a modular body component attachable to the modular stem component in a substantially fixed orientation relative to the coronal slot or bowed portion. The instrument includes a base with a face surface having a plurality of adjacent angle markings. A body component support has a first coupler formed to engage the modular body component in a substantially fixed orientation relative to the body component support. A stem locator has a second coupler formed to engage one of either the coronal slot or bowed portion (if any) of the modular stem component in a substantially fixed orientation relative to the stem locator. One of the body component support or the stem locator is connected to the base at a position away from the face surface in a substantially fixed orientation relative to the angle markings. The other of the two is rotatably mounted to the base about an axis of rotation and includes a pointer projecting away from the axis of rotation with a portion adjacent the angle markings.

Abstract:
An orthopaedic injection restrictor apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a nozzle. The nozzle includes an elongated portion. The apparatus further includes an orthopaedic plug. The orthopaedic plug includes a first portion releasably engaged with the elongated portion of the nozzle and further includes a plurality of flaps extending radially outwardly from its first portion. A method for restricting injection of a substance into a cavity within a bone with a plug is also provided. The method includes the steps of injecting the substance into the cavity and ejecting the plug into the cavity simultaneously with the injecting step.
