摘要: A composite structure suitable for making transdermal delivery devices includes in sequence: (a) a liner film layer; (b) a containment layer having from zero to 15 wt. % content of vinyl acetate repeating units, the layer including either a thermal bonding copolyester resin or a combination of an ethylene-vinyl acetate component and a nonpolar polymer; and (c) a polyester film layer less than 20 μm in thickness. A drug layer lies either between the liner film layer and the containment layer or within a concave depression in the containment layer. A composition including an ethylene-vinyl acetate component and an ABA block copolymer, wherein the A segments of the block copolymer are styrenic segments, is also provided. The composition includes between 1 and 15 wt. % of vinyl acetate repeating units, based on the total weight of composition exclusive of any solvents.

摘要: A method of packaging ovenable fish or meat and which comprises the steps of providing a dual-ovenable thermoformable polymeric receiving film having a first and second surface and a dual-ovenable polymeric covering film having a first and second surface, wherein said receiving film consists of a mono-layer polyester or polyamide substrate, an optional barrier layer, and an optional heat-sealable layer which where present constitutes the first surface of the receiving film, wherein said receiving and covering films are separate pieces of film and wherein at least one of said first surfaces of said receiving and covering films is a heat-sealable surface; providing a raised outer portion and an indented central portion in said receiving film by thermoforming; disposing on the first surface of the receiving film a portion of meat or fish; disposing the covering film over the portion of meat or fish such that the first surface of the covering film is disposed towards the first surface of the receiving film; contacting the peripheral portions of the first surface of the receiving film and the first surface of the covering film and forming a heat-seal bond therebetween; and optionally freezing the packaged meat or fish is described.

摘要: A paperboard composite for use in packaging applications includes paperboard adhered to a backing structure, providing enhanced wet tear strength. The backing structure includes an oriented polymer film and a reinforcing scrim, bonded together by a thermal bonding layer. In one embodiment of the invention, the parts of the backing structure are of similar chemical composition, thereby facilitating recycling of scraps and other waste.

摘要: A laminate includes the following substantially coextensive layers in the following order: (a) a non-sealable, self-supporting, thermoformable copolyester film layer having a first surface and a second surface, the second surface constituting an outermost, exposed surface of the laminate; (b) a laminating adhesive layer on the first surface of the thermoformable copolyester film layer; and (c) a self-supporting, thermoformable structural film layer having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface contacting the laminating adhesive layer. Polyethylene terephthalate constitutes at least 80% by weight of the self-supporting thermoformable copolyester film layer; the thermoformable structural film layer includes a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyamides, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, ionomers, ethylene acrylic acid copolymers, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers, polystyrene, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymers and polyvinylidene chloride; the thermoformable copolyester film layer, the structural film layer and the laminate each shrink less than 5% in length and width upon exposure to boiling water for five seconds; and the laminate is thermoformable and its chloroform-soluble extractives meet the requirements of paragraph h(1) of 21 CFR §177.1630 as defined herein.

摘要: The invention provides an ovenable vacuum skin package for storage and cooking of a food product. The package includes a receptacle and a thermoformable composite polymeric film cover heat-sealed thereto, and the composite polymeric film cover includes: (i) a thermoformable substrate layer comprising a first copolyester material; and (ii) on a surface of the substrate layer, a heat-sealable layer comprising a second copolyester material, the second copolyester material being different from the first copolyester material; wherein i. the receptacle comprises on a surface thereof a sealing region adapted to contact and form a scal with the heat-sealable layer; and ii. both the receptacle and the cover film comply with the requirements of paragraph h(1) of CFR §177.1630.

摘要: A tear resistant seal made from a recyclable multilayer structure that consists of an oriented polymer film layer a thermal bonding polymer layer on the oriented polymer layer inner surface substantially coextensive thereto, and a reinforcing scrim polymer layer also having an inner surface adjacent and substantially coextensive with the thermal bonding polymer layer. The polymer film layer and the bonding polymer layer are co-extruded layers having a chemical composition that permits recycling without separating the layers. The scrim layer also has a similar chemical composition, permitting recycling following lamination, thereby permitting the recovery of waste material during production runs by the simple recycling of the complete laminated structure.
