摘要: This invention relates generally to an apparatus and a method for excavating and transplanting a live tree. The invention relates more specifically to equipment which utilizes curved ground piercing blades moveably supported on a ring assembly positioned around a tree to be transplanted, the blades being forced and guided down into the ground to completely encompass a tree root ball which can thereafter be lifted out of the ground and transported for subsequent transplantation. Both the apparatus and the method facilitate the excavation and transplantation of trees with low limbs and crooked trunks to and/or from uneven or sloping terrain, and may be utilized with any of the prime movers of adequate towing capacity available at an excavation site.

摘要: A gasifying device is fed oil from the return spill rail of a diesel engine, or from a reservoir of oil and gasifies the lighter fractions of the oil using an electrical heater, the gasified products being fed to the air intake manifold of the engine. In one embodiment unvaporized oil is fed from the gasifying device to the oil supply line to the engine, thereby avoiding a build-up of heavy oil components in the device. Several embodiments are disclosed. The device improves the handling performance of a vehicle fitted with the engine, the exhaust emissions, and the fuel economy. The device may also be fitted to a petrol engine.

摘要: This specification describes means that permit the variation of circuits, particularly latch circuits, used in programmable logic array chips (PLAs). The latch circuits are changeable to enable the selection of one of three different latch configurations to be used or in combination on the same PLA chip. The differences in the circuit configurations of the different types of latches occur only in metallization pattern of the chip so that chips with different latch configurations can be manufactured with a minimum of different processing steps.

摘要: A multiple tool includes a flat assembly having at least a first flat handle portion and a second flat handle portion and at least one removable tool bit. The first and second flat handle portions both present first corresponding engageable features which are able to be interconnected at least indirectly in a flat relationship to at least partially assemble the flat assembly. The first engageable features may also be disconnected so that the first and second flat handle portions are able to be separated. The separated first and second flat handle portions each present second corresponding connectable features which are able to be interconnected with each other in order to assemble a non-flat handle assembly. The non-flat handle assembly also presents at least one tool bit recess which is suitable for receiving the at least one tool bit thereby providing a tool which includes a handle and a tool bit.

摘要: The use of liquid metal contacts for devices based on thermotunneling has been investigated. Electric and thermal characteristics of low wetting contact Hg/Si, and high wetting contacts Hg/Cu were determined and compared. Tunneling I-V characteristics for Hg/Si were obtained, while for Hg/Cu, I-V characteristics were ohmic. The tunneling I-V characteristic is explained by the presence of a nanogap between the contact materials. Heat conductance of high wetting and low wetting contacts were compared, using calorimeter measurements. Heat conductance of high wetting contact was 3-4 times more than of low wetting contact. Both electric and thermal characteristics of liquid metal contact indicated that it could be used for thermotunneling devices. To reduce the work function and make liquid metal more suitable for room temperature cooling, Cs was dissolved in liquid Hg. Work function as low as 2.6 eV was obtained.
