摘要: FGFR3-related chondrodysplasias represent a group of rare diseases. Among them, achondroplasia, a nonlethal form of chondrodysplasia, is the most common type of dwarfism. The mutation, which produce an increase of FGFR3 function, affects many tissues, most strikingly the cartilaginous growth plate and bone in the growing skeleton, leading to a variety of manifestations and complications. In attempt to find a new therapeutic approach for FGFR3-related chondrodysplasia, the inventors purified (−)-epicatechin from T. cacao and showed that (−)-epicatechin treatment significantly increases the length of the Fgfr3Y367C/+ femurs comparing to Fgfr3+/+ femurs and improves the whole growth plate cartilage. The present invention thus relates to the use of (−)-epicatechin for the treatment of FGFR3-related chondrodysplasias.

摘要: The present invention relates to β-resorcylic acid for use in reducing the amount of white adipose tissue. The inventors have discovered that β-resorcylic acid causes a selective reduction of white adipose tissue without affecting skeletal muscle mass. The present invention thereby allows the therapeutic use of β-resorcylic acid in preventing the accumulation of white adipose tissue or in reducing white adipose tissue. The present invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition, to the non-therapeutic use of β-resorcylic acid, and to a nutraceutical composition or functional food, dietary product, or nutritional supplement.

摘要: The invention provides a device for the production, moderation and configuration of a neutron beam, comprising: an inlet opening (1) through which a proton beam is directed; a target (2) against which the proton beam is accelerated in order to generate neutrons; a moderator (3) to bring the neutrons to energies of the epithermal range; a reflective cover (4) surrounding the moderator (3); a filtration stage (5); an outlet opening (6) for the neutron beam, and a shield (7) to suppress the neutrons and gamma-radiation that do not exit the device via said outlet opening. The filtration stage (5) comprises at least three layers to filter respectively: rapid neutrons, thermal neutrons and gamma-radiation The invention is of use in neutron capture therapies, and more specifically, in boron therapies.

摘要: The present invention relates to a new family of titanium heterometallic structured metal-organic materials (MOFs) having, among other characteristics, high porosity, stability in an aqueous medium and photocatalytic activity under visible light and UV radiation. The new family of materials has a structural unit that combines tetravalent titanium with multiple combinations of divalent metals with a homogeneous distribution at atomic level in the MOF structure. The invention also relates to methods for obtaining them with high yields, in addition to their uses in the generation of solar fuels, photoactivated degradation, photoreduction of CO2, heterogeneous catalysis, as a component or part of an electronic component and/or as a porous or photoactive coating for controlling pollutants, inter alia.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for obtaining an ethanolic extract from mature seeds of Solanum melongena, preferably defatted, characterized in that they are extracted with a hydroalcoholic solution containing 50% ethanol, at acid PH, preferably under a nitrogen atmosphere and for short periods of time, no longer than 1-2 h. The extracts obtained from different varieties of Solanum melongena have a high polyphenol content and show potent antitumor activity against colon adenocarcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma and glioblastoma multiforme cell lines, even against chemotherapy-resistant lines, but with low toxicity to human hepatocytes. Therefore, the extracts of the invention are proposed for use in the treatment of colon adenocarcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma and glioblastoma multiforme, including those resistant to currently used chemotherapies.
