摘要: A piezoelectric bimorph cantilever beam system includes a shim having a first main surface, a second main surface opposite the first main surface, a proximal end connected to an anchor, and a distal end opposite the proximal end. The system further includes a first piezoelectric layer laminated on the first main surface of the shim and a second piezoelectric layer laminated on the second main surface of the shim. A first beam stiffener is provided over the first main surface of the shim adjacent to the anchor with the first beam stiffener at least partially covering the first piezoelectric layer. A second beam stiffener is provided over the second main surface of the shim adjacent to the anchor with the second beam stiffener at least partially covering the second piezoelectric layer.

摘要: A system for determining a set of at least one cardio-respiratory descriptor of an individual during sleep comprises a memory device having a first accelerometer for a thoracic position, a second accelerometer synchronized with the first and for an abdominal position, and an optional sensor (e.g., a photoplethysmographic sensor). The system also includes memory for recording accelerometer and optional sensor data; memory with a reference model; and a device for filtering accelerometer data and configured to extract low-, medium-, and high- frequency ranges. A computer is configured for determining, within the extracted frequency ranges, at least one characteristic representative of a cardio-respiratory and physiological state and the time of the extraction thereof; comparing the determined characteristic(s) with similar characteristics from the reference model; and deducing therefrom a set of at least one probable corresponding event the individual experienced during a predetermined period of time.

摘要: Microvascular dysfunction remains a major contributor to the development of skin complications. The inventors assessed the impact of the local inhibition of soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH), which metabolizes vasodilator and anti-inflammatory epoxyeicosanoids, on the diabetic skin microvascular dysfunction. The inventors have therefore developed some formulations of sEH inhibitors (GSK2256294 and t-AUCB) for topical administration. In particular, they show that an aqueous gel containing 400 mg/L t-AUCB dissolved in 50% dimethy lsulfo xide (DMSO) allowed a stable and continuous diffusion of t-AUCB from 2 hours after application on skin pig ears to over a period of 24 h. Compared to a control gel, the gel with t-AUCB did not significantly modify the basal skin blood flow but improved the altered hyperemic response of db/db mice 2 hours after application. The results show that the topical administration of a sEH inhibitor improves the skin microcirculatory function, representing a promising pharmacological approach to prevent the development of skin complications especially in diabetic patients.
