Abstract: Catalyst compounds for water-based two-component coating compositions include: I) an organo-metal catalyst for a curing reaction between isocyanate groups and functional groups reactive towards isocyanate groups and II) an oligomeric or polymeric binder compound having a glass transition temperature Tg of ≧20° C., measured by DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) at a heating rate of 10 K/min. The glass transition temperature Tg of binder compound II) is above the temperature at which a water-based two-component coating composition comprising the catalyst compound is applied, preferably is at least 10° C., more preferred at least 20° C., above the temperature at which the two-component coating composition is applied.

Abstract: A water-based coating compositions including: at least one cross-linkable water-reducible binder having acid functional groups and functional groups with active hydrogen, at least one polyisocyanate cross-linking agent with free isocyanate groups, and water and optionally at least one organic solvent. The acid functional groups of the at least one water-reducible binder are at least partly neutralized with at least one neutralizing agent, the neutralizing agent including a monoamine having a secondary amino group attached to a tertiary carbon atom. The monoamine is preferably a reaction product of at least one monoamine having a primary amino group attached to a tertiary carbon atom and a mono-epoxide, or a reaction product of at least one monoamine having a primary amino group attached to a tertiary carbon atom and a mono-unsaturated compound.

Abstract: A polyaspartate composition comprising an asymmetric polyaspartate resin is disclosed. The asymmetric polyaspartate resin is the reaction product of an asymmetric aspartate composition and an isocyanate chain extender. The asymmetric aspartate composition is a reaction product of a multi-functional acrylate component, at least one dialkyl butenedioate, and a multi-functional primary amino compound. A multi-resin form of the polyaspartate composition is also disclosed. The multi-resin polyaspartate composition includes at least two different variants of the asymmetric polyaspartate resin.
