    摘要: A surgical fastening device includes a handle assembly having a stationary handle and a movable handle and an elongated member extending distally from the handle portion. The elongated member includes a distal end portion. The device also includes a pair of firing rods operably coupled with the movable handle and movable between a proximal position and a distal position. A tool assembly has a plurality of helical fasteners supported therein and includes a pair of opposing jaw members. At least one of the jaw members is movable in relation to the other jaw member between spaced and approximated positions. The jaw members are configured to form a pair of radial channels when the jaw members are in the approximated position. The firing rods are configured to advance helical fasteners through at least one radial channel and into tissue upon movement from the proximal position to the distal position.

    摘要: A device and a method are provided for determining a characteristic of an interchangeable component of a surgical instrument. An electrically conductive material having a measurable strength measurable by a hall effect sensor is coupled to the component. In another embodiment, a plurality of conductive materials are arranged to form a binary code representing a corresponding of the interchangeable component. The number and/or strength of the magnets measurable by the sensors may be dynamically altered such that the status of the surgical instrument is determinable.

The second jaw member is movable in relation to the first jaw member between an open position and a closed position. A switch is placed about the handle assembly to allow the handle assembly to operate in multiple modes.

    摘要: A chassis for mounting a set of operating components of a power head of a surgical instrument is disclosed. The power head has a housing enabling access to an interior volume of the power head encompassed by the housing. The set of operating components have a proper configuration for alignment when mounted within the interior volume encompassed by the housing. The chassis is configured to provide the proper configuration for alignment of either an original or replacement set of operating components mounted on the chassis if the chassis and set of operating components are mounted within the interior volume of the housing. The chassis may be formed from metal and the housing formed from a polymer. The chassis may be configured to ground at least one electrical component.

    摘要: A surgical portal assembly includes a portal member adapted for positioning within tissue. The portal member defines a central longitudinal axis and has a longitudinal passageway for permitting passage of a surgical object. In addition, the portal member includes a seal mount. A seal member is mounted within the seal mount of the portal member. Further, the seal member has inner surface portions defining a passage for receiving the surgical object. Aside from the seal member, the surgical portal assembly contains a plurality of seal magnets mounted to the seal member. The seal magnets are arranged with respect to the passage of the seal member whereby respective poles of the seal magnets generate an attractive force to draw the inner surface portions of the seal member about the surgical object to facilitate establishing a substantial sealing relation therewith.
