    摘要: The present invention relates to glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), a potent neurotrophin that exhibits a broad spectrum of biological activities on a variety of cell types from both the central and peripheral nervous systems. The present invention involves the cloning and characterization of a high affinity receptor for GDNF. This molecule has been named GDNF receptor (GDNFR) since it is the first known component of a receptor system. Nucleic acid and amino acid sequences are described for GDNFR protein products. A hydrophobic domain with the features of a signal peptide is found at the amino terminus, while a second hydrophobic domain at the carboxy terminus is involved in the linkage of the receptor to the cell membrane. The lack of a transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic region indicates that GDNFR requires one or more accessory molecules in order to mediate transmembrane signaling. GDNFR mRNA is widely distributed in both nervous system and non-neural tissues, consistent with the similar distribution found for GDNF.

    摘要: Polypeptides which bind to one or more EPH-like receptors, particularly the HEK4 receptor, are described. The polypeptides are designated HEK4 binding proteins. Nucleic acids encoding HEK4 binding proteins, and expression vectors, host cells and processes for the production of the polypeptides are also described. The polypeptides are useful for modulating the growth and/or differentiation of a variety of tissues, including those from liver, kidney, lung, skin, digestive tract and nervous system and may be used to regenerate damaged or depleted tissue and to treat cancer or nervous system disorders.

An embodiment of the invention includes a roller apparatus, comprising: a shaft with raised surfaces on each end, a rotatable tube disposed around a portion of the shaft, and bearing assemblies. The bearing assemblies are disposed between the raised surfaces of the shaft and the rotatable tube such that the inner surfaces of the bearing assemblies contact the raised surfaces which allows the inner surfaces of the bearing assemblies to rotate on the raised surfaces, thus eliminating forces on the inner surfaces of the bearing assemblies.

    摘要: A method for inter-process communications between an integrated development environment (IDE) process and a separate process. The IDE process and separate process are communicably coupled using an inter-process communication module that provides inter-process call channels for transporting messages between the IDE process and separate process, and adds a transport layer comprising routing information to the messages. A caller performs an action that raises an event that includes a requested operation to the IDE process, where the requested operation is only supported by the separate process. The IDE process sends a command message to the separate process using a first call channel that includes information for performing the requested operation. The requested operation is performed by the separate process. A return message is then sent by the separate process using a second call channel to the IDE process.
