    摘要: An image forming apparatus wherein a laser beam produced by a laser source is imaged through an imaging optical system on an image bearing member as a beam spot. The beam spot scans the image bearing member in a main scan direction. The laser source is rendered on and off to form an image with picture elements. The laser driving pulse width per picture element is changed in accordance with the image density of the image to be formed, so that the tone gradation of the image is provided on the image bearing member in accordance with the pulse width. The size of the spot measured in the main scan direction (1/e.sup.2 diameter) is not more than 0.7 times of the size of the picture element measured in the main scan direction.

    摘要: A developing apparatus is provided with a container for containing a developer having magnetic particles. A rotatable member is rotatable in contact with the developer in the container. The rotatable member is supported in the container by a bearing. A magnetic member encloses at least a portion of the rotatable member at a position adjacent to the bearing. The rotatable member comprises a ferromagnetic material disposed at least at a portion facing the magnetic member. The ferromagnetic material is magnetized by the magnetic member, and a magnetic field formed between the magnetic member and the ferromagnetic material forms a magnetic brush of the developer between the magnet member and the rotatable member.

    摘要: A developing apparatus is provided with a container for accommodating a developer for containing magnetic particles, and a rotatable carrying member is disposed at least partly in the container and faces an image bearing member at a developing station. The rotatable developer carrying member carries the developer thereon to the developing position. A magnet is disposed in the developing carrying member and includes a plurality of magnets for conveying the developer. A magnetic member is disposed close to the circumferential surface of the developer carrying member and in a circumferential direction of the developing carrying member in a region thereof where the developer carrying member is disposed in the developer container, adjacent to a longitudinal end of the developer carrying member. The magnetic member is magnetized by the magnet and the magnetic member cooperates with the magnet to form a magnetic field for forming a magnetic brush of the developer in a gap between the magnetic member and the developer carrying member.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus, such as a copying machine, has a fixing device for fixing a developer image transferred to a transfer medium, such as paper, with a fixing roller whose surface is coated with a release agent, such as oil, and includes at least one feed passage member for conveying, while contacting, a transfer medium to a transfer region of the apparatus. The feed passage member has a release agent absorbing layer on the surface thereof, and is thus advantageous for preventing release agent from being transferred and adhered to a photo-sensitive drum of the apparatus. The release agent absorbing layer of the feed passage member may contain either porous particles or particles and a binder resin, and be formed on another layer for retaining release agent absorbed by the release agent absorbing layer. The feed passage member preferably constitutes a transfer medium carrying member, which may include a dielectric sheet, for supporting and carrying a transfer medium. The member may alternatively constitute a pick-up roller, a feed guide, and/or a resist roller of the apparatus.
