Abstract:
Unsymmetrically-substituted alkanolamino-s-triazines are prepared in excellent yields by the reaction of cyanuric chloride with a reactive hydrogen-containing compound and an alkanolamine in the presence of an acid acceptor. The resulting triazines are effective catalysts for the preparation of rigid cellular foams.
Abstract:
Carbodiimide-isocyanurate foams containing urethane linkages are prepared by mixing a polyisocyanate, a polyol and a catalyst system comprising an s-triazine compound and a catalyst which promotes urethane linkages. The resulting foams are characterized by low friability and good flame resistance.
Abstract:
2,4,6-Tris(alkanolsubstituted amino)-s-triazines are prepared by reacting stoichiometric quantites of secondary alkanolamines and aqueous cyanuric chloride in the presence of certain inorganic compounds and a coupling or wetting agent. By the process it is possible to prepare 2,4,6-tris(N-methylethanolamino)-s-triazine, a catalytic compound useful in the preparation of rigid foams characterized by carbodiimide linkages.

A PROCESS AND A CATALYST FOR THE PREPARATION OF 1,3CYCLOHEXANEDIAMINES ARE PROVIDED. THE PROCESS COMPRISES HYDROGENATING 1,3-PHENYLENEDIAMINES IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ALKALI-PROMOTED CATALYST CONSISTING OF COBALTOUS OXIDE, CALCIUM OXIDE, AND SODIUM CARBONATE AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE AND UNDER MODERATE PRESSURE TO FORM 1,3-CYCLOHEXANEDIAMINES. THE ALIPHATIC DIAMINES ARE USEFUL AS INTERMEDIATES IN THE PREPARATION OF POLYURETHANE, POLYUREA, POLYURETHANE-POLYUREA AND POLYAMIDE COATINGS, SEALANTS, AND ELASTOMERS.
Abstract:
Polyisocyanurate foams are prepared by the polymerization of organic polyisocyanates in the presence of a tertiary amine trimerization catalyst and a halogenated aliphatic alcohol accelerator. The resulting foams have improved flame retardant and friability properties.

Abstract:
Rigid cellular foam compositions characterized by carbodiimide and isocyanurate linkages are prepared by catalytically condensing an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a sufficient amount of a co-catalyst system of methanol and a tertiary amine trimerization catalyst.
Abstract:
HIGH YIELDS OF 1,3-CYCLOHEXYLENE DIISOCYANATES ARE PREPARED BY CONTACTING 1,3-CYCLOHEXANEDIAMINES WITH PHOSGENE IN THE PRESENCE OF HYDROGEN CHLORIDE. THE DIISOCYANATES WHEN REACTED WITH POLYESTER OR POLYETHER POLYOLS PROVIDE URETHANE COMPOSITIONS THAT ARE ESPECIALLY SUITABLE FOR USE AS COATINGS, SEALANTS, AND ELASTOMERS.

Rigid cellular foam compositions characterized by carbodiimide and isocyanurate linkages are prepared by catalytically condensing an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a catalytically sufficient amount of a co-catalyst system of certain tertiary amino alcohols and a tertiary amine trimerization catalyst.
Abstract:
Rigid cellular foam compositions are prepared by catalytically condensing an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a blowing agent, from 0.01 to 0.5 equivalent per equivalent of isocyanate of a primary hydroxy-terminated polyoxyalkylene or polyester polyol and a catalyst system comprising (a) furfuryl alcohol or methanol, (b) a tertiary amine trimerization catalyst, and (c) a urethane catalyst. The resulting foam compositions are characterized by carbodiimide, isocyanurate and urethane linkages and exhibit unexpectedly low friability, improved strength properties, and good flame retardancy.
