    摘要: A fuel injection control system and method for determining a start angle for a fuel injection event based upon engine speed. A controller is coupled to a plurality of fuel injectors associated with the engine and is operable to convert a predetermined timing trim value associated with each fuel injector to an angle trim value. The controller is further operable to determine a relative injection angle value for each cylinder by adding the angle trim value to a predetermined advanced pilot timing angle value and a predetermined main shot timing angle value; to compare the relative injection angle value to a maximum allowable relative injection angle value and set the relative injection angle value to the maximum if the determined relative injection angle value exceeds the maximum allowable relative injection angle value; and to determine an absolute injection angle value for each cylinder by adding the relative injection angle value to a predetermined cylinder top-dead-center offset value associated with the fuel injector for a particular cylinder. The absolute injection angle value corresponds to the position of the cylinder piston during a particular fuel injection event.

    摘要: A control system and method for protecting engine electronic circuitry from thermal damage including an electronic controller coupled to the engine, and one or more sensors coupled to the controller for inputting at least one signal indicative of a condition which can be correlated to the temperature of the electronic circuitry. The controller is operable to establish the temperature of the electronic circuitry based upon the at least one sensor input and to output a signal to effectively lower the temperature of the electronic circuitry when the temperature of such circuitry exceeds a predetermined threshold temperature. The sensor inputs to determine or establish a correlation between the input signal and the temperature of the electronic circuitry may include sensing engine speed, sensing the voltage level of the power source providing electrical power to the circuitry, or sensing the temperature of the circuitry directly. The signal outputted by the controller to effectively lower the temperature of the circuitry may include a signal to control the number of fuel shots delivered to the engine during a particular fuel injection event, and/or the firing frequency of the fuel injectors, and/or a signal to restrict engine performance for at least a specified period of time.

    摘要: A method for transitioning between a first engine operating mode and a second engine operating mode of an internal combustion engine involves establishing an engine mode transition region between the first engine operating mode and the second engine operating mode, which engine mode transition region is defined by at least one engine operating parameter. The engine operating parameter which defines the engine mode transition region is monitored. When the engine is operating in the transition region a first engine operating mode fuel rate is determined, a second engine operating mode fuel rate is determined, and an engine mode transition region fuel rate is determined which is a function of both the first engine operating mode fuel rate and the second engine operating mode fuel rate.

    摘要: Apparatuses and methods for delivering fuel to at least two combustion chambers of an engine. A fuel controller receives a first fuel quantity signal indicative of a first desired quantity of fuel to be delivered to each combustion chamber of the engine during a combustion cycle. The fuel controller transmits at least one second fuel quantity signal as a function of the first fuel quantity signal, and transmits at least one third fuel quantity signal as a function of the first fuel quantity signal. The second and third fuel quantity signals are indicative of a respective second and third desired quantities of fuel to be delivered during a combustion cycle. The sum of the fuel quantities corresponding to the second fuel quantity signals transmitted during a combustion cycle are less than the first desired fuel quantity.
