摘要： Polybenzyls of high molecular weight and high crystallinity are obtained by polymerizing aralkyl halides in the presence of a catalyst comprising a complex of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst with a complexing agent which can be a nitroarene or a nitroalkane. The complex catalyst allows the polymerization to be run at higher temperatures and with higher rates. Yields are obtained up to 100%.

摘要： Novel high impact plastics are prepared by the inclusion of 2 to 30 weight percent of bromobutyl rubber in polymers of styrene and styrene-acrylonitrile and the grafting of said polymers onto said rubber. The graft copolymers are obtained by polymerizing the monomers of styrene or styrene-acrylonitrile in the presence of the bromobutyl rubber, which is preferably precrosslinked.
