摘要: A surgical instrument is separable into a transducer unit and a lower body portion. The lower body portion includes a waveguide and a casing. The transducer unit includes a transducer and a geared mechanism operable to couple the transducer to the waveguide. In some versions the geared mechanism includes bevel gears coupled to a rack and pinion such that linear motion may be used to rotatably couple a transducer to a waveguide. The rack gear may further include a handle extending out of the transducer unit casing to be actuatable by a user. The rack gear may also be flexible or rigid. In other versions, the bevel gears may be coupled to a threaded shaft that is operable to translate the transducer into the waveguide to form an interference fit. The transducer unit may also include a slide lock mechanism to couple to the casing of the lower body portion.

摘要: A system includes an ultrasonic instrument and a bone insertion element. The instrument includes an ultrasonic transducer and an ultrasonic blade. The ultrasonic transducer is operable to convert electrical power into ultrasonic vibrations. The ultrasonic blade is in acoustic communication with the ultrasonic transducer such that the ultrasonic transducer drives the ultrasonic blade to vibrate ultrasonically to form an opening within bone. The bone insertion element is configured to be inserted within the opening formed by the ultrasonic blade.

摘要: Various embodiments described herein are directed to ultrasonic blades. For example, an ultrasonic blade may comprise a proximally positioned straight section extending along a longitudinal axis and a distally positioned curved section coupled to the straight section and curved away from the longitudinal axis. The curved section may define a radius of curvature and subtend a first angle. A point of tangency between the curved section and the straight section may be positioned at either a node of the ultrasonic blade or an anti-node of the ultrasonic blade.

摘要: An ultrasonic surgical system includes an ultrasonic transmission member having a proximal end and a distal end. An ultrasonically actuated end-effector is attached at the distal end of the transmission member. A pressurized fluid delivery system includes a fluid nozzle in communication with at least one fluid source. The fluid nozzle is arranged and configured to deliver pressurized fluid to soft tissue at a rate to move the soft tissue away from the end-effector during use.

The method may comprise, at each of a plurality of frequencies of the transducer drive signal, oversampling a current and voltage of the transducer drive signal, receiving, by a processor, the current and voltage samples, and determining, by the processor, the motional branch current based on the current and voltage samples, a static capacitance of the ultrasonic transducer and the frequency of the transducer drive signal.

摘要: A surgical device. The surgical device may comprise a transducer, an end effector, a generator and a control circuit. The transducer may be configured to provide vibrations. The end effector may be coupled to the transducer and may extend from the transducer along the longitudinal axis. The generator may provide an electrical signal to the transducer. Also, the control circuit may modify a current amplitude of the electrical signal in response to a change in a vibration frequency of the end effector. Accordingly to various embodiments, the control circuit may detect a first contribution to a vibration frequency of the end effector, the first contribution originating from tissue in contact with the end effector. Also, according to various embodiments, the control circuit may indicate a change in a vibration frequency of the end effector.

摘要: A surgical system comprises an ultrasonic surgical instrument and a conduit. The conduit may be coupled with a vacuum source and/or a fluid source. The instrument comprises an ultrasonic transducer, a waveguide, and an end effector. The waveguide extends fully through the transducer, such that a distal end of the waveguide is distal to the distal end of the transducer and such that a proximal end of the waveguide is proximal to the proximal end of the transducer. The waveguide is operable to transmit ultrasonic vibrations from the transducer to the end effector. The waveguide defines a lumen in fluid communication with the conduit. The lumen is also in fluid communication with the end effector. The end effector may thus be used to deliver one or more of ultrasonic energy, suction, and/or fluid to a surgical site, in any suitable sequence or simultaneously.

摘要: An end effector for use with an ultrasonic surgical instrument. A body extends along a longitudinal axis. The body includes a proximal end and a distal end. The body comprises an outer surface that defines an inner portion. The proximal end of the body is configured to couple to an ultrasonic transducer configured to produce vibrations at a predetermined frequency and a predetermined amplitude. An extendable folded element includes a first end coupled to the distal end of the body and extending proximally along the longitudinal axis from the distal end of the body toward the proximal end of the body. The extendable folded element comprises a second free acoustic end. The extendable folded element and the outer surface of the body define a single substantially parallel acoustic path.
