    摘要: A system and method for obtaining data regarding customer use of interactive television, where application servers residing at a broadcast center include application programs that provide customers with a graphical user interface. Customers may retrieve the application programs via a satellite through integrated receiver/decoders (“IRDs”). The IRD includes a modem, callback functionality and flash memory for storing a data log of customer transaction and navigation data. Communications servers reside at the broadcast center for receiving callbacks from the IRDs. Interactive servers also reside at the broadcast center where the interactive servers include interactive data repositories IDRs for storing data. The interactive servers may also include a parser of the data in the data log and an encapsulator of data into the appropriate protocol for database users.

The sometimes conflicting needs to maintain data integrity and system performance are balanced by deferring execution of some of the corrective action when the memory system has other high priority operations to perform. In a memory system utilizing very large units of erase, the corrective process is executed in a manner that is consistent with efficiently rewriting an amount of data much less than the capacity of a unit of erase.

    摘要: A thin, lightweight retention mechanism with a spring force holds an integrated circuit package to a circuit board. The retention mechanism consists of a pressure plate, a backing plate, and a fastening means for applying a deforming force to the plates, such as screws and nuts. The plates are paraboloid or dish-shaped and made of an elastically deformable material, such as steel. The fastening means simultaneously applies deforming forces to the peripheries of the plates to create a continuous spring force to effect electrical continuity between the integrated circuit package and the circuit board. In addition, a method of testing the retention mechanism and a method of assembling the retention mechanism are disclosed.

    摘要: The present invention presents techniques for the linking of physical blocks of a non-volatile memory into composite logical structures or “metablocks”. After determining an initial linking of good physical blocks into metablocks, a record of the linking is maintained in the non-volatile memory where it can be readily accessed when needed. In one set of embodiments, the initially linking is deterministically formed according to an algorithm and can be optimized according to the pattern of any bad blocks in the memory. As additional bad blocks arise, the linking is updated using by replacing the bad blocks in a linking with good blocks, preferably in the same sub-array of the memory as the block that they are replacing.
