摘要: A sensing apparatus with a connector, a sensor lead and a sensor module with a spacer placed over electrodes that have been deposited on a substrate. The spacer may have a space for receiving an enzyme. End portions of the sensor module may be encapsulated, such as with molded beads. A sensor lead may attach to the sensor module and may have an outer tubing that passes over the module and attaches to the beads at the end of the sensor module. The sensor lead may also attach to the connector such that the sensing apparatus may be electrically coupled to a pump, electronics or other devices. The sensing apparatus may be implanted into a vein or artery.

摘要: A restrictor fitting is provided at the discharge side of an infusion pump to substantially reduce or eliminate the presence of undissolved gas such as air within the detection field of an air-in-line sensor. The restrictor fitting defines a flow orifice of reduced cross-sectional size disposed along an infusion line in close proximity with a pump discharge port, and at a position slightly downstream from the air-in-line sensor. The restrictor fitting maintains an infusion liquid under substantially constant pressure conditions, with minimal pressure drop across the sensor detection field, and thereby minimizes the occurrence of undissolved gas attributable to outgassing at that location. In addition, the flow orifice acts as a bubble trap to prevent backflow of gas bubbles to the sensor detection field.

摘要: An implantable infusion port is provided to facilitate delivery of medication to a patient, wherein the infusion port has a substantially reduced internal volume to minimize the quantity of residual medication therein. The infusion port comprises a cup-shaped housing with a self-sealing septurn mounted thereon to define an internal chamber for receiving medication infused through the patient's skin and the septurn via a hypodermic needle or the like. A catheter mounted on the housing communicates with the internal chamber to deliver the medication to a selected site within the patient. A substantial portion of the chamber volume is occupied by inert beads which minimize the open volume of the chamber and thereby maximize medication delivery to the patient.
