The present invention relates to binder compositions containing A) 40 to 95 parts by weight of OH-functional graft copolymer resins which are prepared by copolymerizing a mixture containing 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of at least one optionally functional polybutadiene having a molecular weight of 500 to 10,000 and having at least 20% by weight of side-chain 1,2-vinyl double bonds, and B) 5 to 60 parts by weight of a polyfunctional cross-linking resin selected from aminoplast resins and optionally blocked polyisocyanates, wherein the sum of the parts by weight of components A) and B) add up to 100, based on the weight of components A) and B). The present invention also relates to the use of the binder compositions according to the invention for lacquering vehicles, wood and furniture, and for preventing corrosion.

The present invention is directed to aqueous stoving lacquers containing pigments or fillers wherein the binders are based on combinations of (a) polyurethane prepolymers containing partly or completely neutralized carboxyl groups and blocked isocyanate groups and (b) polyurethane prepolymers containing free hydroxyl groups and partly or completely neutralized carboxyl groups. The present invention is directed to aqueous solutions or dispersions which may contain blocked polyisocyanates of cationic oligourethanes which are crosslinkable at elevated temperature and contain(a) about 0.1 to 3% by weight of ternary or quaternary ammonium ions introduced through Michael adducts of secondary amines having at least one hydroxyl group and specific acrylic acid derivatives,(b) up to about 2.8% by weight of tert. amino nitrogen atoms incorporated through Michael adducts of secondary amines having at least one hydroxyl group and specific acrylic acid derivatives and(c) about 0 to 15% by weight of blocked isocyanate groups, provided that the ternary ammonium groups of (a), the tert. nitrogen atoms of (b) and the blocked isocyanate groups are present in an equivalent ratio of (a+b):blocked isocyanate groups of about 1:1 to 1:1.5. The present invention is additionally directed to a process for the preparation of these solutions or dispersions of oligourethanes and to their use for coating heat resistant substrates, particularly by coating metallic substrates by cathodic electrodeposition and subsequently cross-linking these coatings at elevated temperature.

This invention relates to new diisocyanates containing urea groups which are liquid at room temperature or can be liquefied by heating to a temperature of up to 80.degree. C. These novel diisocyanates may be in the form of solutions in isocyanate prepolymers.
