摘要:
The present disclosure relates to methods, devices and systems used for the treatment of mood, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and cognitive and behavioral disorders (collectively, neuropsychiatric disorders) via stimulation of the superficial elements of the trigeminal nerve (“TNS”). More specifically, cutaneous methods of stimulation of the superficial branches of the trigeminal nerve located extracranially in the face, namely the supraorbital, supratrochlear, infraorbital, auriculotemporal, zygomaticotemporal, zygomaticoorbital, zygomaticofacial, infraorbital, nasal and mentalis nerves (also referred to collectively as the superficial trigeminal nerve) are disclosed herein.

The present disclosure relates to methods, devices, and systems used for the treatment of and/or promoting recovery from various neurological disorders and conditions, including epilepsy and other seizure disorders and movement and other related disorders; for promoting recovery from acute or chronic brain injury (e.g. stroke, hypoxia/ischemia, head trauma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and other forms of brain injury, for awakening and/or promoting the recovery of patients in various levels of coma, altered mental status or vegetative state); or for promoting recovery from chronic daily headache and migraine and related disorders via external (cutaneous) stimulation of the sensory branches of the trigeminal nerve in the face and forehead. More specifically, devices and electrode assemblies configured for stimulation of the supraorbital, supratrochlear, infraorbital, auriculotemporal, zygomaticotemporal, zygomaticoorbital, zygomaticofacial, nasal and infratrochlear nerves are disclosed.

The present disclosure relates to methods, devices, and systems used for the treatment of mood, anxiety, cognitive, and behavioral disorders (collectively, neuropsychiatric disorders) via stimulation of the superficial elements of the trigeminal nerve (“TNS”). More specifically, minimally invasive systems, devices and methods of stimulation of the superficial branches of the trigeminal nerve located extracranially in the face, namely the supraorbital, supratrochlear, infraorbital, auriculotemporal, zygomaticotemporal, zygomaticoorbital, zygomaticofacial, nasal and mentalis nerves (also referred to collectively as the superficial trigeminal nerve) are disclosed herein.

摘要:
A system for trigeminal nerve stimulation includes a storage medium, a pulse generator in communication with the storage medium, a power source coupled to the pulse generator, and at least one electrode communicatively coupled to the pulse generator. The pulse generator includes a microcontroller which executes instructions from the storage medium and the microcontroller is configured to perform at least one of the following operations: produce electrical pulses having defined characteristics, record a log of use and anomalous events, restrict use to a specified individual, interface with electrodes, provide a signal to the specified individual indicating operational conditions and trouble conditions, and provide a signal to the specified individual indicating an end of a treatment period.

Determining brain lesions by quantified electroencephalography is effected by obtaining absolute power data in a primary frequency domain for a brain region. Power data in the primary frequency domain in relation to power in a secondary frequency domain is determined. The two sets of data are related to obtain a value representative of the electrical output in the brain region. The representative value is compared to a selected base value and quantified departures are mapped topographically. This map is used to identify and assess lesions associated with disorders and afflictions including dementia and demyelinating diseases. Mapping is used to determine activation during tasks such as motor and memory tasks, cognitive processing or other conditions, and also to assess the level of perfusion of the brain.

Determining the brain condition of a human between normal and abnormal as determined by dementia, and selectively between dementia of the Alzheimer's-type and multi-infarct dementia is effected. Measures of electrical output, spectral ratio and coherence value of the brain are determined. Selected scores are applied to the electrical output, spectral ratio and coherence values. A relationship between the scores and addi-tionally the scored value of a coherence ratio are effected to obtain a diagnostic evaluation.

A patient strikes a sensor in a manner to produce an impact load at an impact rate along the axis of a bone experiencing the bone disorder, and that impact load and impact rate are measured and compared to desired impact load and impact rate values to determine a success indicator of how close the patient came to the desired impact load and impact rate values in striking the sensor. The success indicator is provided to the patient as feedback for the active exercise treatment and is recorded.
